I turned it on when this thread let me know she was perfoming - thank you.
She is quite the pro. I daresay this day will go down in history as one of the most difficult of her life. She better win the damn award.

Mics don't make you flat -- they simply amplify whatever you're singing, right or wrong. Bad monitors can make you flat, though. If you can't hear yourself properly in relation to the orchestra, then, yes, your pitch can be off, which is what I suspect is happening tonight.

I realize this is a high school, but come on. They've hosted this show before; they should have an audio system that can handle one singer with one microphone.
And BKLYN is still running because its costs are virtually nil.
