Am I the only one who thinks that the cover shot of Jennifer with Beyonce and Anika is badly re-touched? It looks like they slimmed her down..

For those worried -- an Extended Director's Cut of DREAMGIRLS is going to be released in theatres Christmas 2007.

Bill Condon has had to trim certains bits here and there that were indeed filmed but due to test screening audiences reactions not being too positive, he's chosen to fix the moments. From what I understand, the sung-thru sequences were always in question, therefore they were filmed 2 ways -- in their original musical form and as regular dialogue scenes (with different dialogue than the lyrics). One sequence that is indeed confirmed 'cut' is the Effie/C.C. reunion "Effie Sing My Song". The scene is still there, but not in musical form.

Next Christmas we'll get the full-version Bill Condon filmed and always intended. Maybe he'll go back and film "Ain't No Party" -- a number which was never included in the film; it was never filmed nor recorded nor included at all in the script.

At least we'll get DREAMGIRLS the way we always wanted. Not now...but later.

Though all the sung-thru sections were filmed in the 2 different ways, "It's All Over" was only shot one way: in it's original sung-thru form, so need to worry about that one.

Only the "Effie Sing My Song" section is now a dialogue scene in the film, though the sung-thru version will be included on the soundtrack recording coming out on December 5th.

Phew! I leaking too much info here. Hahahahaha.

I'm so sorry to see Effie Sing My Song taken out. I listened to the clip off the Sony website and it sounded great. Plus, it doesn't sound like CC gets much singing time and I suspect that was Keith Robinson's big musical moment.

That's true. For some reason, when I listened to the clips on Sony's website (before they were removed), it didn't register as strongly as a CC number as the clip from Effie, Sing My Song.

Just confirmed -- "Ain't No Party" will never be included in the film-adaption of DREAMGIRLS, so there goes any hope that Bill would go back and shoot it for inclusion in next Christmas' Extended Version.

Bummers.

PS: ...and yes, I'll be seeing the final 'release' version of the film this Wednesday night. Whoo-hoo! Word to your mother!

Jordan Wright playing Teddy Campbell of the Campbell Connection, a Michael Jackson/Jackson Five-type group on Curtis Taylor Jr.'s Rainbow Records label.

They're only seen in a background performance taking place at a Rainbow Records 10th Anniversary Gala -- they're not 'new' characters added to the plot.

They perform "Perfect World", one of the four new songs written by the show's original composer, Henry Krieger, for the film-adaption.
