What's it like at the DRS stage door? Is it usually really crowded? Which actors are usually stay awhile to meet fans?

When I was there about a month ago it wasn't that crowded. Norbert, Sherie, John, Sarah, and Greg all came out. I didn't get to meet Sarah, but the other cast members were very nice and accomadating to their fans. I understand that Johanna rarely comes out.
I've heard she exits through the main entrance of the theatre?
when I saw the show Norbert came out shortly signed a couple autographs and then left. Sherrie and John came out. So did Sarah (unfortunately i didn't recognize her ) and i'm not sure if Gregory came out cause we left after we got Sherrie Norbert and John. You may have to wait a while though we waited at least a half hour for John i believe. And we waited a half hour after Little Women for Sutton but she didn't come out

Both times I went stagedooring at the Imperial the crowd was pretty large. It wasn't Idina Menzel and Hugh Jackman large but it was big all the same. Last time I was there Kevin told the driver for Joanna to wait by the parking lot next door because she was coming from over there. So she either leaves from the main entrance or a side door somewhere.
Many a times Norbert is in a rush to go home to his kids or to the Gershwin to pick up Michelle Federer. But he will always stop to sign and take pictures.

When I was there, it was *pouring* down rain after my matinee. Only about 10 of us waited. Since it was so incredibly rainy (and between shows), only a few people came out - mostly ensemble and orchestra - to go get dinner or whatever.
And then John Lithgow came out (with someone holding an umbrella for him) and signed the playbill of everyone who waited. I made a few comments to him about how much I loved the show and he stopped there in the rain and looked me right in the eye and smiled and thanked me. (this man is very very tall) He signed the playbills of the remaining few people, then turned around and went back in the theatre.
I was so incredibly impressed that he came out in the rain for the sole reason of signing playbills for the fans. While I really would have loved to see the others, I felt lucky John came out at all.

I think he is so sweet to come out to you in the rain. Some actors don't really care about the fans only if they are in good mood.

I think I've heard on the board that the stage door manager there is VERY creepy. Any stories about him?
I don't have any stories about the stage door manager, but when I was there, Taye Diggs came out. Beautiful man . . . Norbert was through quickly, but was very gracious. Sherie took her time, and John was quite nice. My best overall stage door experience - except for my near death at the hands of Hugh Jackman. That's the way to go. Run over by Hugh Jackman. Sigh . . .

When I saw it Wednesday the crowd was semi-large but very under control. I have to say it was one of the most pleasant experiences I've ever had waiting by a stage door. John wasn't in when I saw it, but I stopped by the Imperial tonight after La Cage and he was there, signing everything that was put out for him. He seemed very nice from what I saw in passing.
They have barricade walls up to allow the actors some space, and Kevin the doorman is a real nice guy - not scary at all. He'll take 4 people in after every show to pop backstage. Sadly I was not one of those lucky souls...
Norbert, Sherie, Tom (who was in for John when I saw it) and Greg are all so sweet and really want to be there for their fans. But like mentioned above, Norbert usually has to run to get home as does Sherie - she said her baby is still not sleeping through the night!
Good luck and enjoy the show!

norbie is a class act. so nice and even took a pic with me!! and john is really nice!! greg jbara cant get any nicer! although when i first met him i hadnt emailed with him so i didnt get a chance to chat. sherie was nice, joanna actually came out one time, but only spoke to people on the other side of the barrier things that they set up. oh well. not really a fan of hers anyway.
awww. . . it's cool they're all so nice at the stage door. My worry is that now that Norbert won the Tony, the stage door crowd is going to be ridiculously crowded.

It wasn't too bad on Wednesday and that was after he had won. Nothing like when I was the only one waiting for Roger at The Producers but surely not the crowd that I witnessed for a matinee of Boy From Oz.

The stage door guy, Kevin, is awesome! He was so sweet to me! He asked me who I was waiting for(because I was there a few minutes before the show let out) and I told him "Laura Marie Duncan" (she's in the ensemble, she's plays the part of the usherette towards the beginning) and he goes "Oh, I tell her she's got a big fan out here" and she came out five minutes later and came right up to me! He's tops in my book...just stay behind the barricades! lol
The stage door crowd wasn't too bad the night before, I just needed a solo pic with Laura the next night. The night I saw the show I got everyone's autograph except for sara gettlefinger and joanna, but the second night I went, Joanna came flying out the stage doors and didn't even look back! She's one fast lady!!

I was up in NYC the middle of May and ended up seeing DRS TWICE while I was there. I went to the stage door twice....both nights I got John, Norbert, Sheri, and Greg's signatures--and the second night I got Sara Gettlefinger's. Unfortunately, since Joanna Gleason RARELY comes out, she eluded me. BUT, Kevin (the Stage Door Manager) remembered me from the previous night and remembered that I was a huge fan of Ms. Gleason's....so he went inside and brought me out a DRS playbill signed by the ENTIRE cast--with J. Gleason's signature front and center. It was a super nice thing to do! I actually had my picture taken with him and just sent him off a thank you note this weekend. The entire DRS cast was just amazingly gracious with their time!
Heh, funny story with Kevin(stage door guy tonight). I went with a friend who wanted to get a couple autographs, and we were in the front, I just wanted to talk to some of them, and maybe a picture, had everyone's autograph already except Joanna's(wasn't expecting her). So quite randomly, Kevin opens the door and gives me a playbill. He saw me standing there with nothing and prob thought I had nothing for them to sign, that was quite nice...except I already have 4 playbills ha. So I asked if anyone wanted an extra playbill and a lady behind me took it.
i started a thread on kevin! its called like imperial stage door manager. search it. interesting stories! . apparently hes actually a really chill guy.

When I went, only Norbert, John, and Greg came out, and they were all extremely nice and took time for photos and autographs especially Greg.A funny story with him, when he came over to sign my playbill and my mom's playbill, I was searching for my sharpie and he said That he had one, and that he'd race me to see who could get their's out the fastest. I won, and he signed, looked up after and took a photo with me and my sister(see my fan photos). Also, it was a matinee, so that explains why Sherie, Joanna, and Sarah didn't come out, and the crowd wasn't as big as it was the last time I was a the Imperial which was The Boy from Oz' last show(that was a BIG crowd).

Haha, I love Greg! He's very funny and just one of the nicest people ever.
Thursday night we went and it wasn't crowded at all, maybe i'd say less than 20 ppl, so not bad, but Norbert came out for 3 seconds signed 5 autographs and went into his limo. Sherie didn't come out and neither did Joanna (we expected that though) the only people that actually came out and signed stuff were Gregory and John's understudy (name escapes me at the moment). Was a bit disappointing, but I know they aren't required to come out at all and do anything for us...just wish I could've at least had Norbert sign something or say hi or something. Oh well, still a wonderful show with a talented cast!
Gregory is the nicest person though, he talked to us for a bit which was really nice and took time to sign and take pictures with everyone at stage door that wanted it.

If you mean Kevin, LOVE him! I think he's great.
Was very nice to my husband and me when we were there.
So I personally have nothing but good things to say about him.
the show sux! and john is nice but he doesnt take pics...sherie was nice but she was in her own world...eventhough no one was asking her for autographs....norbert is very nice...but no one even knew who he was that evening...good stars...bad show!
I was there Saturday night and it was fairly crowded. Norbert, John and Greg came out and signed and Greg was posing for pictures. (I knew Joanna wouldn't be out but I had hoped for Sherie.) All of them were very nice. Greg came out last and the crowd had thinned out so you could actually have a nice conversation with him -- definitely a sweetheart!
