Hey everyone! I have a question. Does anyone have the CATS dvd? I want to purchase it tomorrow at Borders, but am not sure which one to get. They have an ultimate edition and a regular. The weird thing is the regular is 29.99 and the ultimate is 19.99. I am confused. Is the ultimate worth it? Help a new DVD kid out here please! DVD Question Here is a link of the search results.

How is the Into The Woods DVD with Ms. Peters? Is that worth getting?

The CATS Ultimate edition comes with 2 DVD's. One is of the movie, while the other has behind the scenes of making the movie; interviews with ALW, Cameron Mackintosh, Trevor Nunn, Gillian Lynne, John Napier, Gerry Schoenfeld; and a Character makeup featurette with Karen Dawson Harding

The Into the Woods DVD is *definitely* worth getting. Not only is Bernadette amazing, but the rest of the actors are very talented and the storyline really is fascinating. You can't go wrong with it.

We watched Into the Woods in my intro to theatre class, and loved it, of course I was in the front row and it was 200 seat lecture hall, they have one of those big screens in there and one of those digital projectors on the ceiling so it was almost like a movie theatre experience. Definately worth it.

Quick question to anyone with the Ultimate Edition: When it gets to the Pekes and the Pollicles and they're barking at each other, does your sound like get muted so that all you can hear is the music and not the barking?

It does that on some DVD players. I have about, 4 different players in my house and 2 of the 4 play the sound affects, while the other 2 don't.

RUG is known for being cheap...

I can't speak for the actual DVD as I have not seen it - but I saw the orginal show on Broadway and saw it when the video first aired on TV. INTO THE WOODS is one of the finest musicals ever written - both book and score are close to flawless. Bernadette is amazing as always - and the entire cast is excellent.

"these shows aren't taped like a concert? like the Les Miz one, right? its the actual show? "

Cats and Into the Woods were filmed like the regular stage show.

Les Miz is a concert.

I'm not sure what you were asking, but hopefully I answered something... re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: DVD Question

CATS was not filmed like a regular stage show. It was filmed like a movie. I love counting the bloopers!

Well, yes, but I meant as opposed to a concert or a semi-staged concert.

The problem with the Cats DVD & video is that they didn't film the Growltiger segment which is really a shame.

Yes, I know. I bought the CATS DVD and was disappointed when the curtain did not fall from the ceiling! How come they cut this? Filming difficulties? Also, I would consider CATS a filmed stage show, but some things were changed for film. Now, Fosse is the show filmed while on stage exactly. I can't wait to get ITW!
