excellent!!! i'm glad to see a classic remade instead of all this talk about upcoming films of Hairspray, The Producers, the possibility of Wicked, et al... Thank you, Miramax!

Now wouldn't it be great if they cast REAL ballplayers as the "chorus" of this film??? Man, this avowed movie-hater would be the first on line to see Mike Piazza, Todd Hundley, Alex Rodriques, Derrick Jeter, Grant Roberts, Aaron Boone, Shawn Estes, and various players from different teams singing "You've Gotta Have Heart"--even if they were only lip-synching.
Dolly - thats an inspired idea...nice Eyecandy and it would certainly help sell tickets...
how about the cast of Take Me Out?
Joey - great idea!

The cast of TAKE ME OUT were a fine looking bunch--don't get me wrong. But the fellas I suggested are real BALLPLAYERS: sweaty, grimy guys who are covered with mud from sliding into homeplate. Oh, I'm getting dizzy just thinking of Todd Hundley's buns!!!!!!

They usually don't play baseball in mud. Unless it's an Al Parker film.
Joey Joe- Why would you rather see a classic movie remade, then a new one based on a new musical like WIcked?!?!? Damn Yankees is a classic, and I would much rather see a new movie musical then an old one remade.
But since they are planning on doing a remake of Damn Yankees, who do you think should be cast?
only because it will make something old, new again, and introduce a whole new audience to the show...
I agree with joeyjoe, BilliyLawlor. Of course I love Wicked, who doesn't? But I think it's better to remake old musicals rather than glorify new hit musicals even more. A lot more people are familiar with Wicked than they are with Damn Yankees, and I think the younger and more modern musical fans need to broaden their spectrum and get into some of the older musicals. Sure it would be cool to see Wicked made into a movie, but give it a couple of years.
I don't love WICKED. I find that comment offensive.
Jenna Elfman would be the perfect Lola for so many reasons. For example:
1) She would look absolutely gorgeous with red hair.
2) She is a hysterical comedian as well as a terrific dramatic actress.
3) She is a trained dancer.
4) She could very well be a good singer. Sure, she got booted from 'Nine', but Carla is a difficult part for someone who has never had singing training. Besides, Verdon wasn't a singer, either.
BTW, Jason Alexander or Kelsey Grammar would be awesome Applegates.

CATS, if you weren't so blinded by your hate for Wicked, you would have noticed that that comment was sarcastic. Give me a break.
Hey, hey, hey! No need to be rude. I don't hate WICKED! And I'm certainly not blinded by my hate for it. The CD makes a very nice coaster and Frisbee. And any enemy of my enemy is my friend. I didn't realize you were being sarcastic, so I apologize for that. And any fan of J Tart is a friend of mine, so please, lets play nice.
It seems like everytime I am on here, there is news of a show being turned into a movie....seriously, I don't think many of them will actually be made.
I once heard of Jane Krakowski for Lola, I think she would be wonderful. Alexander could be a good Applegate, though I think Lane would nail the role. Of course I happen to think Lane's a god, so I probably think he would nail any role. Plus, he wouldn't sell as many tix.
I think a good named cameo would be Gloria, who could you all see play her?

Namo, what do you mean "they don't play baseball in the med"? Haven't you ever seen those guys slide into first base? There's mud (or at least soil) all over them. And lest we not forget: "There is no joy in Muddville. Mighty CAsey has struck out"
JLo as Lola!
Sorry, but I don't think her acting's up to par. I saw Jersey Girl and Affleck had no chemistry w/ her and vice versa, and they had been a real life couple! I also think (maybe you didn't) that some people forget Lola's more than just a sex symbol, she has her sentimental moments too. People are throwing Catherine Zeta-J's name out for a lot of things, she could also work in this role,
