Whoever is directing Damn Yankees at the Landor is a genius.

I don't see why they have to do this to such a great show. If you want to put on a smut musical, write your own; don't ruin a classic.
Men in towels in a locker room? How gratuitously shocking!

how do you know it is gratuitous? have you seen it?
HogansHero, I'm afraid I was being a weensy bit sarcastic.
I think calling it gay porn is a bit drastic. Gay erotica perhaps...
And anyway, little skin never hurt anyone. If it fits the scene why not! If you're gonna have a locker room scene why not make the most of it.

If you think the Bebe revival didn't trade in imagery and bodies like that, then you are sadly mistaken. I question if you even like theatre at all, mjohnson.

I know the show pretty well and don't recall the scene that's pictured. I'm sure someone who has seen the production can explain how it moves the story forward and fits into the time period.

And I'm sure someone who knows the show pretty well can explain how Who's Got the. Pain moves the show forward.

Who's got the pain when they do the mambo?"
Lola's got the pain because she knows what she's being asked to do isn't ethical, and she's basically a moral girl at heart.
Give them a break. Even the movie could be considered "gay erotica" with Tab Hunter in the part.

^ Ha! Agreed. I've always thought of every Robert Mitchum movie as gay erotica.
To be honest it's probably a tactic to get people to go see the show as the Landor isn't in a particularly nice area.
This is another one of those reconceived and redirected British revivals of a great Broadway show done by a small London theatre.
It's obviously going to be a load of bollocks.

The Neuwirth/Garber revival featured a locker room/shower scene with a flash of Greg Jbara's rear, but at least the ball players had realistic bodies, and the scene was played for laughs.
re "realistic bodies" -- are you saying they are not muscular enough?
Men with their shirts off is smut or gay erotica??
Jesus, how American can you get?

You forgot to put a trigger warning before the phrase gay erotica.
