That's the $64,000 question.

There's a book?
um Dracula is about Vampires...but not dancing ones. I'm reading the book now for school...it's pretty good.

It is a shame the book for the American one was so ripped apart. If you can get a synopsis of the German one it is more of a real story.

Honestly, ChristineDaae, I'm not sure what you're asking.

If you are asking if DOTV was based on a novel, no, it was based on a 1960's film, The Fearless Vampire Killers. If you are asking about the script it hasn't been published.

When I read the playbill, it says "Book by Jim Steinman, Michael Kunze, & David Ives"
What does this mean?

they did the score and script

The book and the score are separate entities.
Which means "What's the book to Dance of the Vampires?" is STILL the $64,000 question.

The book is the script and lyrics, I believe. The score is the music. If I am wrong, feel free to correct me! :)

Oh I see what you are asking. Take out the songs and what is left is the book....the dialog of the non-sung parts of the show.

Although this is a dicey area. The book to FALSETTOS won the Tony, even though there is very little spoken dialoge. I suppose the book is considered the recicative sections and the score (which also took the Tony) are the traditional song sections. But still have no idea. It's very confusing to me.

Are you able to buy this "Book"?

You might try Amazon or the public library.

EVITA won Best Book also, even though it doesn't have much of any spoken dialogue.

No, the book or the score of DOTV are not available commercially. They sometimes come up on e-bay...I think someone got a copy and started making photocopies, because the same person sold the script over and over again.

Be very careful about what you buy on E-bay. I just got a letter from the States attorney office naming me as a “victim” in a bootleg scam from e-bay. They named the people I may have bought something (and since I buy so much and they didn’t say exactly what) from but since they use handles as well, I have no idea as to what it was. A CD or a Vid, I would guess.
Gulp! I was very shaky when I opened the envelope and thank God they aren’t going after me for buying whatever it was!

That'll be next! They're going after individuals who "share" song files to the tune of $150,000 a pop. Pity they have your home address, oh, bootleg-buyer. Bless your heart if you end up in jail.

Thank you for the concern and the blessing, which I'm sure was sincere. May you have an interesting life as well.

I guess the definition of "the book" isn't as clear cut as it was traditionally. It's easy to identify "the book" of Gypsy!

And by seeing the Full Monty, were you referring the the musical, the movie or just in that BroadwayGuy2 sorta way?

I know.
And I said I have seen both the musical and film. it is a given that I have seen the third... though not as many times as some people here would like to believe. After all, I am not a whore.
