Dancing Tips

Okay, I've got an audition tomorrow for Aida. We do have a dancing portion to the audition and I was wondering if you guys could give me general tips?

I'm not...experienced in dancing at all, but I can pull off choreography sometimes without tangling myself. But if you could give me some pointers on...maybe what to do with my head or something? Or to look loose, tense...things like that. Just so I don't look very awkward.

Don't look at the floor, look at the casting peeps and SMILE
if you fudge everything, make sure you at least know the last 8 counts.

Also, what should I wear? O___o

I've read about "form-fitting" outfits, but I don't want anything too tight...I was thinking about shorts? And maybe a t-shirt?

And I've only got Shox as my shoe choice. Or flip-flops. :- Sorry.

then go barefoot. make sure you know the first and last eight definitely. it's all about personality if you don't have the best feet.

re: Dancing Tips

Really? Barefoot? I think that might be overdoing it.

re: Dancing Tips

if you don't have jazz shoes go barefoot. never use socks because you'll slip and you never ever use flip flops. god no.

re: Dancing Tips

you need something better than shorts and a t-shirt. you need probably a wife-beater/tight tank top and then some jazz pants... or tighter sweat pants. and definitely not sneakers or flip flops... if you don't have jazz shoes do it barefoot, like i said before.
sorry babe.

re: Dancing Tips

Again, never look at the floor, and give your undivided attention to the choreographer as she is giving out the steps. Also, if you get lost look for the best dancer in the group and follow them (its what I did all the time in class.)g

re: Dancing Tips

Alright, I got this sort of...athletic jersey. It's sort of made out of this..spandex-y type fabric.

Then I looked up what jazz pants look like and I found a pair of pants that sort of match it. Fashion-wise, it's horrible. But I think it'll do.

Break a Leg!
"Let the little girl go, and that poor little dog? Dodo." That's my favorite line in the whole show (Wicked). My next favorite line is "Oh! It seems the artichoke is steamed."
