Yeah, the fireflies were wonderful. I recall that, too. As for the other, I'd be interested to know what Mr. Davis is doing professionally now. Beyond that, I heard pretty much the same story as SamIAm, and this is one dead horse I'd like to stop beating.

Well, he did "Blue/Orange" in LA after La Cage. I know that's no new info but it *was* after La Cage! Back to the original subject.... Anybody listened to the radio broadcast? (Did you, Mamie?) I thought it was excellent.

I wonder, too, what he's doing now? Would be nice to see him back on stage.

Hello Leah. I did listen to "Blue/Orange" - a couple of times as a matter of fact. It sounded like he was giving his usual excellent performance. I'm just sorry it was only available to a few people in LA for only 3 performances.

I'm not going to comment on his personality or any of the hundreds of rumors that float around these boards. Whether they're true or not, I've found his performances to be consistently excellent and downright entertaining - every time I've seen him.

How about a one-man show off Broadway? Speaking of "Frogs" - maybe an evening with G. Bernard Shaw? I'll bet he could do it in his sleep! Sadly this doesn't allow us to hear him sing. I always thought he'd make a wonderful King Arthur in Camelot. Anybody have any other ideas?

(I'm hoping some casting director or producer or angel with deep pockets will read the ideas and put one of them to work!)

Hello Mamie; et al,

Yes! I enjoyed "Blue/Orange" very much, too! I thought it was an interesting project. I'd like to see him doing other jobs like that next year maybe. It'll be interesting to see what develops. I can't imagine him being away from stage very long. I still have this irrational hope that he might consider doing a play in London because he seemed to like the work of British playwrights. It would be cool to have him in Europe for awhile! Back to the original subject....

In which play I would like to see Daniel Davis? Well, I think I'd be excited to hear that he's doing anything "classical". I'd be thrilled to learn that he finally considers to do "King Lear". I could also imagine him taking over parts in any play by Tennessee Williams or Arthur Miller. :) I think he'd be a great Big Daddy in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof"! I know that may sound weird. Back to the original subject.... It's just that I can't imagine him in anything "shallowbrained" right now. (Sorry if that's offending somebody.) I can imagine him in everything that is intellectual challenging.

I *would* have loved seeing him in "The Misanthrope" with Kate Mulgrew or in "Three Sisters". These plays and his parts are simply excellent!

Great discussion, you guys! I think "intellectual" is his hallmark. He seems to be someone as impassioned about the artistic depth in the work - the way a teacher would be - as he is about the acting of it. I think acting is something a little different for him (forgive my flights of fancy here) - a way to step inside the words and images, pull the pages around him, so to speak, and walk though that world. The beautiful thing is, he can take the rest of us with him. What a gift! You are so right, Leah - something intellectual now, please.

One question I wish I had a chance to ask him - if he could create, or have someone create - a play just for him - what would it be? Or at least, what would it be like? What issues would his character be dealing with? What kind of person would he be?

Just some thoughts. I would love to see that talent showcased properly.

Why exactly can't Davis work in New York again ?

He was honestly one of the only good things about La Cage. Sad he was fired but egotistical people totally turn me off, so...

Well, his performance you saw with your own eyes. Me too. The rest I read in a gossip column. That's really all I can say.

So, as for what I saw with my own eyes - I really hope I get to see it again.
