Daphne Replaced?

I've been told by a credible source that Daphne Rubin-Vega is being replaced in Les Miz. Apparently the role has been offered to Alice Ripley.

methinks this is more wishful thinking then fact. or a bad game of telephone how quickly "should be replaced" can turn into "will be replaced."

Im still pissed about the person who claimed that Meryl Streep was cast in the Sweeney Todd film.

Utter crap.

No way would they replace a featured role during press week. It would cost them more than the run can afford. Contracts have an out, but it's too late for this one...

Site your source.

And they've cast the daughter roles to match the type--and no way will people believe that Alice has an ethnic child.

I know this cast is wonderfully colorblind, but both young and old Cosette have been cast to somewhat match a "look". Not being racist here, but also not being blind. We have to believe it's her child, young and older. It's hard enough to believe the performance... (although I hear it's getting better!)

It opens on Thursday...there is no way she will be replaced unless they delay opening. Not happening. (if it does, i'll be shocked)

I would absolutely love to see Alice in this role.

That said, I don't think it's really fair to say you heard this from a credible source, not give a single clue to who this might be, and leave everyone hanging.

I didn't say this was necessarily happening right this second. They just told me that she has been offered the role.

So she's probably being offered the role during Daphne's other show in January. That makes perfect sense to me.

If someone had a truly credible source that they may wish to have again, why would they tell their information on the internet. That doesn't make sense to me. If I ever had inside information, I would not betray the person who told me in confidence. That doesn't make sense.

I'm leaving you hanging as far as the source, because I was asked not to say who the source is.

They did not specify when the replacement would happen, or if Ms. Ripley had accepted the role. I'm not trying to be a d*ick; I was just posting what I was told.

Lizzie, I was only implying that both young Cosettes and Cosette have a similar resemblance. I used to work in casting, so their "type", NOT ethnicity, is similar. I can believe she is her offspring. However, it wouldn't matter, fundamentally, since no one in the cast "feels" french anyway... hehehe
