"Tony Award nominee David Alan Grier, of TV's 'Chocolate News' and 'In Living Color,' has joined the cast of the Broadway world premiere of David Mamet's Race, the producers announced on July 28. The New York Times broke this latest piece of casting. Race begins Nov. 17 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.
Grier (a Tony nominee for Broadway's The First) will join a company that already includes Kerry Washington ('The Last King of Scotland,' 'Ray,' making her Broadway debut) and Emmy Award winners Richard Thomas ('The Waltons') and James Spader ('Boston Legal,' 'sex, lies and videotape'). Grier, a Yale School of Drama grad, also appeared in Broadway's Dreamgirls and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
From the author of American Buffalo, Glengarry Glen Ross, Speed-the-Plow, November and The Cryptogram, Race (the play's topic is the title) will officially open on Broadway Dec. 6..."
