Disney *JUST* did a TV Movie of the Anne Frank story for ABC a few years ago. And I thought that was pretty good! I've seen about 6 different films of the Anne Frank story and also on stage dozens of times. It is taught in schools. I don't see the necessity to do this story AGAIN. How is he going to reimagine it? That's the only factor that could make this project worth it...
It's an important story that SHOULD be taught. It is history. But seems to me they are beginning to cross the line and profit off of her death. (Surprise, surprise!) We already have incredible films about Anne Frank.
This might be the weirdest combination ever.
Yes....I can just see David Mamet's "Re-Imagining" of the Anne Frank story...
Anne: I'm fu*king sick and tired of this God Dam*ed fuc*ing attic!
Mrs. Frank: Don't you start that sh*t with me, young lady, I am NOT in the fuc*king mood! If those nazis find us, so help me GOD I'll shove my shoe so far up your little ass, the only thing you'll ever taste is leather!
Anne: It'd be better than that sh*t you call food that you serve us now!
Mrs. Frank: If it wouldn't make so much noise, I'd take you by the fuc*king hair and throw you out the window, you ungrateful little bitch!
Peter: Anne, lets calm down and just talk about this.
Anne: Talk?! Thats all you ever want to do is talk! Put out or get out, Peter. Enough is e-fuc*in'-nuff.
You beat me to it Jordan.
Maybe if it's a "re-imagining" we'll have a final scene where Anne confronts Hitler and tells him to suck her d*ck.
This is either the most interesting combo ever or the most offensive combo ever. This could be... different.
LOLOLOL Jordan.

I JUST THINK IT WILL BE A CHALLENGE FOR MR. MAMET TO TRY AND WRITE DIALOGUE WHICH MUST BE spoken quietly. I DON'T KNOW THAT HE CAN. BUT EVERYBODY'S ALLOWED TO TRY.
I wonder how Mamet will work in his trademark sexism.
And his rat-a-tat dialogue would seem to be completely out of place in this situation.
But, I'm sure he'll do something that will surprise us all.
Or at lease he'd better surprise us, b/c if it's like the typical Mamet script...well, it would at least provide some unintentional laughs.
I'd love to see what Mamet would bring to it, but as the rights for any screen versions are extremely rare i wouldn't hold my breath over this, not since this years BBC show which has been touted as the best and most accurate version ever.
The Diary of Anne Frank
Stephanie J. Block for Anne!!!!
Interesting. Is it an adaptation of the play a la THE WINSLOW BOY? The way Mamet directs all his women to act like zombies could be a sticking point. Although I suppose anything is better than that Audrey Hepburn lookalike who was in the fifties movie.
