https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/David_Mamet_To_Tackle_Big_Screen_Anne_Frank_Bio_Reimagining_20090811 Disney *JUST* did a TV Movie of the Anne Frank story for ABC a few years ago. And I thought that was pretty good! I've seen about 6 different films of the Anne Frank story and also on stage dozens of times. It is taught in schools. I don't see the necessity to do this story AGAIN. How is he going to reimagine it? That's the only factor that could make this project worth it...
It's an important story that SHOULD be taught. It is history. But seems to me they are beginning to cross the line and profit off of her death. (Surprise, surprise!) We already have incredible films about Anne Frank.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
