Dawn French is to make a West End stage comeback in a new play being written for her by Sharman MacDonald and to be presented at the Vaudeville Theatre next autumn.
Details of the production will be kept under wraps until its launch next May.
Sharman Macdonald wrote the play, 'When I Was A Girl, I Used To Scream And Shout' that was presented in 1986 at the Whitehall Theatre (now Trafalgar Studios).
The play opened starring Julie Walters and she was replaced by Dawn French in what was her first West End starring role.
Her other West End appearences include 'Me And Mamie O'Rourke' with Jennifer Saunders which was critically panned back in 1993 at the Novello Theatre.
Others include 'A Midsummer Nights Dream' at the Noel Coward and 'My Brilliant Divorce' at the Lyric.
She appeared with Sheila Hancock and Des Barritt in a revue called 'Then Again' at the Lyric Hammersmith which had its West End transfer pulled when she pulled out due to her husbands naughty behavior!!!
