Does anyone think shutting the streets down in front of the theaters before and after the show would help with the crowds, or would that cause more harm that good?

Just an idea I thought of.

In NYC 10 days passed between 60 and above and 50 and above so it felt as though things were moving quickly. But we probably need to take into account all of the people who are not planning to be vaccinated which could make things move quicker as well.

They should have been doing this since before the pandemic.

@wick FYI those numbers are incorrect. The reporting on the 24th was over 8 million in arms, with over 1 million shots per week. There are actually more vaccination sites that shots to make full use of them and the admin to received ratio on first doses is well over 90%. The state is drilling down in at risk communities, opening not just big sites but small ones in churches, community centers, large apartment complexes, etc. The daily stats are not linear. Weekly deliveries are updated mid-week but received over the course of the week, and also the higher disparity is a function of second dose hold backs. The state is over 27% vaccinated (excluding 2nd shots as applicable), and the city is over 31%. The challenge now is getting these pesky hotspots vaccinated and that situation is not about supply or access.

@broadwayfan327 closing streets is a non-starter due to traffic and also due to accessibility issues. Also bear in mind that crowding will not be an issue by the time theatres reopen: we will have seating without social distancing indoors; what would be the point of social distancing outdoors on the way in?

Looks like we will officially have a way of showing proof of vaccination via technology: the Excelsior Pass app was just launched in New York State.

It is "a free, voluntary platform developed in partnership with IBM, which utilizes proven, secure technology to confirm an individual's recent negative PCR or antigen test result or proof of vaccination to help fast-track the reopening of businesses and event venues in accordance with New York State Department of Health guidelines. Similar to a mobile airline boarding pass, individuals will be able to either print out their pass or store it on their smartphones using the Excelsior Pass Wallet app. Each Pass will have a secure QR code, which participating businesses and venues can scan using a companion app to verify proof of COVID-19 negative test results or proof of vaccination. An individual's data is kept secure and confidential at all times."

Major venues have already announced they will be using this in the future.

Anything done to get Broadway back running again safely is a great thing !!
