For a night of sheer heartwarming exuberance and irresistible melody you can't beat the musical Irene.
The 25th Anniversary production featuring Special Guest Star Hollywood legend Debbie Reynolds.
All the songs - all the dances - all the fun - of the smash hit Broadway musical featuring such timeless classics as Alice Blue Gown, You Made Me Love You, I'm Always Chasing Rainbows, What Do You Want To Make Those Eyes At Me For?
Once upon a time there was a young Irish lass, Irene O'Dare, who goes to the mansion of millionaire Donald S Marshall III to tune his pianos and falls head over heels in love.
Follow the story of Irene and her mother - Debbie Reynolds - who pose as rich Italian socialites to impress Donald and his family.
The fun and laughter follow as the tale reaches its happy conclusion.
Apart from the classic songs it will feature big production dance numbers from tap to Irish to ballroom and will be lavishly costumed - with a fifteen piece orchestra conducted by Tim Cunniffe.

Damn.
This little Yank from NYC will be in Perth the week following these performances.
Can they delay a week or so...?
(And I think it is 35 years. 1973)
Pity you cannot be there WOSQ tickets are only $90.00AU
I just bought that cast recording with Debbie :). I bought it because I love Debbie. Kawinkydink that this is now happening.
I loved Debbie in this show. Saw it many times. Even saw it with Jane Powell, but Debbie was the best!
The London show was fab and interestingly had an AUSTRALIAN leading lady -Julie Anthony. They added more songs and moved the setting into the 1920's with a much more DECO design (rather than Edwardian). Great cast recording which I prefer to the Broadway version. Though I do love Debbie!
People here are always asking about "stagedooring". Well when Debbie was in "Irene" at The Minskoff, after matinees she would often sit in the lobby and meet and greet the audience, and not just a select few, the whole audience. Never heard anyone else ever doing anything like it.
Debbie Reynolds in IRENE was the first Broadway show I ever saw. I loved it.

Debbie after matinees was one of the shrewest things any star has ever done. She posed for every picture, signed every autograph and answered every silly question she was asked. She talked to everybody who was there.
She knew that these folks would go home and tell their friends what "that nice Debbie Reynolds" had done and that it would sell tickets which it did. There was never an empty seat in NY or on the road when Debbie did the show.
Not bad for a show that opened its pre-Broadway engagements as a disaster and had to delay the opening by 6 weeks to get it into some kind of shape.
WOW i so wish i could see this
I am old enough to have actually seen her do this in NYC
Yikes.
In point of fact, though, she didn't come out after every performance. She didn't do it at either of the matinee performances I saw in December of 1973 and September of 1974. (She came back to the show for one final week to close it.)
