Isn't 50 way too old for Guinevere?

Just thinking out loud here, but Robert Goulet is free from La Cage.
Anyone want to drop acid and go see this. I think that's the only way I could deal with it.
And I second the casting of Patty Hearst.
With Scott Baio as Arthur (my best friend and I have the whole cast worked out).
And count me in, that would be an awesome trip!

Maybe Joel Grey can play Lancelot?
I'm in MB. Only if we can sing "You Light Up My Life" when they try to put her on the cross.
Oh I was thinking one of her big songs from SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN PERFORMANCES.
Yeah, she is WAY too old to play that part! Just another B or C list celeb that NCT has brought in to "star" in a show. The sad thing is that I am certain that her name will bring people in to see it.
We'll do a medley of her "greatest hits."
And regarding the age issue. I have rarely seen Guinevere played by an age appropriate actress.
eek Debbie Boone.......now I'll have nightmares
Yeah, its a role like ANNIE OAKLEY. She's 17, but you can't play her till you hit menopause.
I've been in the show and every time I have seen the show she has been played by someone who was in their mid to late twenties or early thirties not 50 years old. Crazy! Is Arthur gonna be in a wheel chair? Pellynore on oxygen?
I've never been a fan of Camelot. A few good song but I always thought it was a tad overrated.
When I've seen it WonderBoy, they've cast all the leads older so it's not as distracting.

Julie Andrews was 25 when she played it. Christine Ebersole was 27 when she played it. Vanessa Redgrave was 30 when she played it.
But a 50 year old Guenevere?!?!?

Cabaret - Betty Buckley or Bebe Neuwirth
The Music Man - Why not let Barbara Cook or Shirley Jones have another go at it?
South Pacific - they surely wouldn't cast older than the over the hill Glen Close tv movie.

Unless that's a really old photo, she doesn't LOOK that old. They've had 40 somethings play Christine in Phantom. As long as she can do it justice, she should go ahead.

I love Debby's "Reflections of Rosemary" album, so she has a lovely, rich, alto voice. But-- that's just it--- she's an alto!! How is she going to sing in the key of Julie Andrews. Unless, they either give her Vanessa Redgrave's film arrangements or transpose original keys.
Good point! I hadn't even thought about the fact that it is written for a soprano. Hmmmm... too old and too low.
They should have cast an age appropriate soprano...like Cathy Rigby.
