There are always promo codes/discounts for the Rockettes - they just may not be live yet. I've seen it on Groupon and Goldstar before. But it's not really a great show - there's one famous dance number that's impressive but you have another 80 minutes of show to sit through. If you want a great holiday NYC experience see the Nutcracker at NYCB (though the only discount are for students).
As for Bway shows you'll want to buy SWEENEY TODD in advance it's selling very well and Josh Groban is leaving in January so tickets will be expensive closer to the performance date. They now have rush tickets but it's not guaranteed any will be available the day of the performance. I'd play all the lotteries though. Ohio and Spamalot haven't started previews yet so not sure how they're selling but as long as you're willing to get up early and stand in line for rush seats you shouldn't have a problem getting tickets.
As someone who used to work at Radio City music hall I can attest that sitting in one of the mezzanines, there is a far more pleasant experience for the Christmas spectacular.
I think the Radio City Christmas show is a great show, and it was one that I avoided for years because I thought it would be too cheesy. I got a free ticket back in 2007 and I've gone back to see it many years since then. And it's worth noting that the Rockettes perform with a 60 piece live pit orchestra.
As for discounts, there will be discounts for Radio City anywhere and everywhere discounts are posted: Playbill, Broadway box, TKTS, people handing out discount codes in Times Sq, you name it.
As for the other shows, as long as you're not coming the week of Christmas and/or New Year's, it is often easy to get discounted tix to most shows, especially mid week, as most people don't choose to travel in mid and early December.
