Decent ny accommodation

That's my biggest concern too but the reviews were good and I keep on checking in with the host to make sure everything is still good. Fingers crossed! Mine is closer to Washington Heights but about a block away from the A

I recommend finding the best deal now amongst the hotels that have been mentioned in this thread and to be sure to get a refundable rate. Then, check hotel prices for your dates every other day or so - you'll be surprised by how much certain places will drop their rates as your trip approaches. You can cancel your original booking as better deals arise.

I highly recommend AirBNB. That's what some of my friends have used in the past who wish to stay near Times Sq. Another app that's pretty good as well is HotelTonight. Pricing varies but depending on the season you can get a 3* Times Sq hotel for less than $150/night. Only downside is you book it on the day you plan to stay there.

Decent ny accommodation

So I just looked at my HotelTonight app and did a search for Times Square, NY and found the following hotels that are less than $150/night for tonight:

Cassa Times Sq - $109

Hilton Times Sq - $129

The OUT nyc - $110

The Mansfield - $104

Sanctuary NY - $148

There are several more but you get the idea. Yes the downside is you can only book it on the day of but it's another way of getting decent ny accommodation at more affordable prices last minute.

I will also second the Pod 51. I stayed there a couple of times and had no issues with anything. It's clean and quiet. Subway to Times Square is convenient or easy. It also isn't a terrible walk. And I recommend the Morning Star Cafe, which is around the corner from the hotel on 2ND Ave.

Glad to hear good about Yotel because that's where I ended up in a booking through Hotwire when I go to BroadwayCon in January. Shall see if it is as good the reviews I've seen.

You may have a tough time meeting your $150 price point at an actual hotel in April. That is smack in the middle spring break for many schools on the east coast. I'd recommend you check out the Times Square Candlewood Suites and Holiday Inn express on West. 39th. They are next door to each other and run by the same management company.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express this past February with a large school group and it worked out great...and had a free breakfast bar which wasn't terrible (and perfect for high school kids). It's a very small property, but the rooms were fine. If you stayed at the Candlewood Suites next door you get a microwave and apartment fridge as well. You could save some dining money by eating breakfast or other meal in the room.

Marianne, hope you like your stay at Yotel in January.

The aesthetic is very Japanese capsule/ Jetsons, but with a tidge more space. Lobby on the 4th floor, but you can check in by iPad at the 1st floor lobby without talking to a soul. Clever and super-comfy bed slides forward from couch position into bed for sleeping. Rest of the time you get more floor space with it up. Great little built-in cubbies everywhere but don't expect any full-size closets-- just an abridged hanger area.

The bathroom is through a glass wall and that's where your floor-to-ceiling window will be. A curtain partitions it off for a modicum of privacy. They use to have a super nice breakfast offering on the 4th floor social area, but I think that's gone now. Have brunch instead at 44&X at the corner of W 44th and 10th Ave.
