Hey everyone -- In the hopes that some of the decision makers or participants on the Xanadu OBCR might see this, I thought it might be fun to have a discussion as to what ends up on the recording, since the sessions are just 10 days away... For instance, I saw someone mention that s/he wants Curtis' tap solo on "Whenever You're Away From Me," which I agree with. Other thoughts of mine...
Intro to "I'm Alive" - I think it would be awesome if the CD began with Cheyenne's "Hey...!" and kept everything he says leading up to "I'm Alive." Agreed?
"I'm Alive" - What do you think? How much of the dialog between Kira and her sisters that splits the song into two parts do you think we can/should get?
"Magic" -- I don't necessarily think it's important to keep much of the "I know who you are..." conversation mid-song (even though I love the "Sonny Malooooone" that it starts with), but I definitely hope we get the "You look just like the girl in the mural" moment (with Kira's punchline.) I would also love to have the "Follow me and watch your dreams come truuuuuue" that Kira says just as the music is ending...
"Suddenly" -- If it were up to me, we would get all the dialog beginning with "Wow, look at this place!" (Because Cheyenne's delivery of "Who am I talking to?" is one of my favorite moments of the show every single time) but somehow I doubt we'll get that much. Where do you think it should start? And I'm assuming we have to get the phone conversation that happens on-and-off throughout the song...
Thinking through the song list, those are the moments that are most important to me -- what about for you all?

I really dont care .. as of now.. The XANADU cast cannot do anything wrong in my book ...Hell.. f*cking yeah... They can record it with Mary Testa reading the yellow pages, Jackie Hoffman b*tching over the phone, The sounds of Curtis Holbrook tieing his shoe's and Cheyenne Jackson scrubbing the floor -- uh ! I would like that 
.... I will still buy it !
My birthday wish is a XANADU OBCR- but I think I already have one !

It's not typical for cast cds to have lengthy dialogue. Usually just enough to set up the song or carry a transition.
Considering the show runs 90 minutes (give or take) - they *could* just about include nearly the whole show. But I think it's much better and translates better when you see the performance rather than just hearing the dialogue without the visuals. The CD has to service the people that have seen the show - but more importantly - those that haven't....

Craig- youre right ! if they record most of the book.. they are already giving it away...
Though one wish for me is the book in between "I'm Alive " with Clio's plan to be mortal ..

Posted: 10/19/07 at 2:17pmIf I had to make a bet - I would say the song that will get the most dialogue will be "Don't Walk Away" - as the intermediate dialogue bits are important to framing the song

^^ Unfortunately.. that wont be recorded bec. that line has nothing to do with any of the songs.. and that is a SPOILER !
Though "Fool " seems to that's its very short....
One more thing... I hope they add Cheyenne's line in the beginning .. "Guys like should not dream anyway" then the "I'm Alive Song "
Actually .. I am very particular with the I'm Alive song.. so Brian Swibel, if youre reading this - call me , if you need my inputs!

Posted: 10/19/07 at 2:26pmI doubt it would ever happen, but wouldn't it be great if there were a state-of-the-art video of a live stage performance? Just a dream I guess. I know I'll be buying multiple copies of the OBCR -- hope they include a booklet that does justice to everyone in this delightful show.

I am just playing with BT3. There's no such thing as registered fans of Xanadu..
Hopefully they will come up with something like this registered fans of Xanadu
with backstage tour priviledges and all that jazz....

The only things that are really important to me are a bit of dialogue set up before I'm alive, just a sentence of two about the mural and artists like him shouldnt have dreams.
Need the "Sonny Malone, I believe in you" before Magic
The bit of dialogue right before Evil Woman
And the lines in the middle of Suddenly.
Those are the ones I really would like, but they can give me anything else they want and I'll love it!
