Diana DeGarmo as Dorothy?

Is anyone else excited for this? I thought it was going to be the old musical but it is all new? Does anyone else think Christian Borle would be great for the Scarecrow?

It is updated and a new score. Although it is hard to imagine they won't use Over the Rainbow. Unless they are doing the Wiz! LOL

What production are you talking about, sweetie?

I've never heard of this production before, but I agree that Christian Borle would be great as the Scarecrow! I've always thought that!

I hope they don't make the Wicked Witch of the West a sympathetic figure in this one.

Exactly! I'm scared that they'll cater to all of the tween fangirls who like to say, "I AM Elphaba-- she's just misunderstood!"

re: Diana DeGarmo as Dorothy?

I started a thread for this ages ago...It's mostly a non-equity cast, DeGarmo is working under a guest contract. It's a Texas based tour, that runs through the month of February.

Christian Borle??

This is a non-eq tour... it is NOT Broadway bound.

And, LaRue, perhaps you should check out YouTube for clips from the most recent production. It is awful.

This garbage can't even come close to competing with Charlie Small's wonderful WIZ score (it is pretty catchy...)

re: Diana DeGarmo as Dorothy?

I have to say it is rarely a good sign for a production when one person is wearing too many hats as this production has. I have found very few writers who can also direct their own work in its early stages, as they tend to not be honest with themselves about what isn't working and needs to be fixed. An objective eye is needed to really shape a work in its infancy.

Charleston-- I just assumed LaRue was asking if Christian Borle would make a good scarecrow while we were on the "Wizard of Oz" topic... not suggesting that he join this particular tour.

re: Diana DeGarmo as Dorothy Loudon

I'm excited to hear Diana sing that song that was posted! She'll sound amazing (much better than that girl, even though she had some alright moments).

Somebody get Diana back to Broadway ASAP.

That song burned my soul a little. Ouch. And that girl's expressions reminded me of Maya Rudolph and the variety of characters she has played. Or maybe my mind just wanted to play a helpful distraction during those horrendous life-stealing moments. Did she really just sing 'home is where the heart is'? Because, y'know, THAT'S innovative.

re: Diana DeGarmo as Dorothy Loudon

I was wondering how Diana was getting away with doing this show since it's non-equity.

Everything I've seen of this show is pretty awful, but I have seen Diana before and she is actually pretty amazing, so she'll elevate this. They're lucky to have her.

re: Diana DeGarmo as Dorothy Loudon

Um.....yeah.....you folks in Texas enjoy that...

Nothing says "this is gonna be a great production of The Wizard of Oz" more than seeing "Doo-Wop Girl #1" and "Doo-Wop Girl #2" listed among the cast!

HAHA!

Hmm...that's almost a complete ripoff of the song in "Journey Back to Oz" that Scarecrow sings.
