Just went by the theatre and saw he is missing this evening's performance.
Has he missed many/any shows before?

Harvey rarely misses and is vocal about his opinion of those who do it often.
I've seen Mr. Latessa's understudy and he's not bad, but no Dick. As written, it's really a thankless role, but Latessa just shines in it. A wonderfully understated performance.

We should ALL have Dick's energy.
He never tells his age, but he's in his mid-70s. God bless him!

Posted: 8/30/03 at 1:22amI think Harvey is a treasure to the Broadway community. I agree with his views completely. In some cases people have paid $100.00 to see these stars, and when they're out (No matter HOW GOOD the understudy is) it's bound to upset some people. If you're really sick or there is a family emergency that's fine, but the performers should be there otherwise.

Posted: 8/30/03 at 1:39amWell, I agree and disagree at the same time for example Harvey is planing on taking a vacation in Oct. He hasn't missed a show since they opened over a year a go that's 8 shows a week. I think that he deserves a weeks just to rest or do something other then the show and I love the show it's my fav and I really can't imagine it without him but everyone needs a break sometimes. Just it should be all the time same as any other job. Not that being on Broadway is like any other job but ya know what I mean
