Yes, he definitely got choked up. It was really endearing.

It looked like he was just choking on spit or didn't get a breath or allergies and he tried to talk through it.

Throughout the announcement, he kept catching his breath.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

there are many reasons why he could have gotten choked up...

- ITH getting 13 nominations

- Cheyenne being snubbed out of a nomination

- C-B nominated over ACA

- Laura Benanti receiving a nomination

you just name it!

Well if Sondheim gets a fabulous TONY HONOR maybe we will be able to see a medly of his greatest songs....

I vote that we get Judi Dench to do Send in the Clowns,
John Barrowman to sing Marry Me A Little (or Being Alive)-- sorry Raul I love ya but my heart belongs to John
Elaine Stritch singing "I'm Still Here" with changed lyrics for Sondheim....
oh the dreams the dreams

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

A Sondheim melody featuring John Barrowman... let's see the other networks mess with THAT ratings monster!
