Did anyone attend SUMMER's last show today?

I attended the matinee yesterday after losing the standby lottery for The Cher Show. I bought a ticket at TKTS. I would say it was about 95% full in the Orchestra. There were a handful of empty seats on the extreme sides but everything else was filled. And it was also a much livelier crowd than when I saw the show the first time. After they did the She Works Hard for the Money number, the 2 actresses actually paused until the applause died down and then they continued the show.

I was also lucky to meet LaChanze at the stage door afterwards.

Thanks to both of you for letting me know. I'm glad it went out with a 'bang'.... sort of...



As for her 'life wasn't that interesting, though' - not exactly true. She has a very interesting life and career - the musical did a horrible job of telling it.

This is how I feel as well. The show touched on numerous events from her life that I thought were interesting however, they didn't really expand upon or resolve them. Given that Bruce and her daughters were involved with developing the show, it's not surprising that they didn't dwell on the more negative stuff. I also think the show needed a different production team.

It really is a shame because the show had a fantastic cast and the musical numbers were terrific. The book just didn't do the show any justice. I do think the show will do well on tour though. Donna still has her fanbase and that should drive ticket sales as the show travels the country.
