I was just wondering, has there ever been a Broadway play of Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory? In my opinion, it seems like it could do well as a musical on Broadway sice it has been aired several times on tv.

You can buy the CD through kennedy center's website and it also comes packaged with the Easy-Piano vocal selections for it available in sheet music stores. It is called simply "Willy Wonka".

I saw a play done by my hometown's community theatre company a couple of years ago.
It wasn't the musical, but it was pretty cute.

Like the old saying Sue, if you don't like it, don't look at it. And it's in the bible.

RTfan-You've really got a lot of nerve putting that signiture on a musical theatre message board! Also in the Bible, it says I can't eat shellfish. I work at Bubba Gump's in Times Square. I eat shellfish and then I come home and lay down with my man, sometimes I do more than just lay down with him too!! You're disrespectful and ignorant. I agree with Sue. GO AWAY LOSER!!

I love that "because the bible says so" is so often used as justification for so many things. Well, that's fine, IF you believe in the bible.
BUT, Newflash RTfan: I don't have to believe OR care what's in the bible.

My soul is uberfine.
And I believe in the Bible, as a history book. Jesus was a man. He lived. He died.
But not for me.

#15re: Did they ever make Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory into a play?
Posted: 11/8/06 at 4:22pmAgreed. Go start a musical theatre thread on some other (presumably conservative Christian) board, if you're so eager to talk about it. Around here, you're just plain offensive.

RTfan is one of those people who make all the nice, true Christians look bad. It's because of people like him/her/it that I despise most organized religions.
Peace be with you, RT.

Posted: 11/8/06 at 4:33pmNo true Christians don't believe in homosexuality nor do they believe in abortion. It's the 'born again ones' that make true Christians look bad with their 'if you don't believe in Jesus your going to hell' thing. What about those who weren't taught about God because their parents didn't teach them?

Posted: 11/8/06 at 4:46pmThe Bible says a lot of crazy things, like if you have a daughter you are unclean and you have to be banished for three weeks until you are clean again. The Bible is a series of stories meant to help you live your life, not a series of actual events meant to be taken literally. RT you are in the wrong place if you want to preach about Jesus, homophobia and your pro-life beliefs. You are more sad than anything.

"No true Christians don't believe in homosexuality nor do they believe in abortion."
Actually, Jesus never mentioned homosexuality at all (except that the only law of Leviticus to obey is to love God, but's rather indirect). So, "true Christians" would have no real objection to it. But then, if you really read the Bible on it, there's very little condemnation of homosexuals. Just Peter's observations condemning a group of Godless pagans, which included homosexuals in their group. Homosexuality isn't a deadly sin. It wasn't even a word when the Bible was written. It appeared as an interpretation in one of the countless translations and adaptations over the centuries and has remained there in certain editions, but not all.
If you are going to discuss the Bible, you whould probably be more informed. Oh, and other religions exist in this world as well. Just so you know. Which doesn't necessarily make Christianity the correct one. Just one of many.
PS - My parents are "true Christians" and they are looking forward to attending the wedding of me and my boyfriend. And my uncle is a priest who has agreed to marry us when the time comes.
EDIT: Sorry, Paul, not Peter. In Romans and Corinthians. The folk-singing names confuse me sometimes.
