Ok... since it was pretty much a full mounting of the show anyway... what can we speculate will be the differences between these two?
I wonder if the sound design will be better. It all just came from all of the speakers all the time. Nothing cool was done to differentiate anything... it was just... always there...
If the orchestra will be in the actual pit... since the show refers to the pit orchestra so many times... and it was strange hearing the orchestra behind the performers... I only noticed it a few times during the show.. but it was still there...
I wonder if they'll do anything to flesh out the set even more. Not that it was basic... but I mean... it's BROADWAY now. :) And they'll have to make changes anyway since the St. James is smaller than City Center.. lighting changes especially. And since there isn't an orchestra behind them if they'll still only use HALF of the stage..
wardrobe changes...
since they have, what is it, 1 maybe 2 more million dollars, is it a WHOLE OTHER BUDGET? or does that include the budget for the original CC production?
any thoughts?
I could lose the Bunraku Puppet Little Lamb.
This thread is two months too early.
I wanted to lose the Bunraku Little Lamb as I was watching it.

Hopefully LuPone's performance will be tolerable for me this time around. If I see it again.
And hopefully the audience will be tame. If I see it again.
me too... it made me feel like Laurents let Julie Taymor direct the Little Lamb Scene as he was too busy that day or something...
Maybe this time around YankeeFan won't post how much he hates it every 10 seconds.
No lamb puppet please! That was my ONLY complaint from the entire show!

- LOL. I love you.
There was the rumor about an orchestra of 18... which I'm praying is not so.

I don't hate it. I thought the rest of the production was a very strong interpretation of the material. And I felt that Benanti, Ganes, and Larkin delivered incredible performances.
one of the only problems I had was that Leigh Ann Larkin can't do pointe while Emma Rowley could... just a continuity thing... I would rather have had Baby not done pointe, even though it's refered to in "If Mama Was Married." ("Give all my toe-shoes to you")... than have Baby June do pointe... and some years later have Dainty June mysteriously lost the ability to dance en pointe.
How could Rose have afforded pointe lessons for June anyway, off topic?

i too hope they come up with another soloution for the lamb, that was the only weak moment!
i'm very excited, i cant wait & i want to do everything i can to support this production!
Go back to the concept of always casting a gay Tulsa, cause the straight one at The City Center was a bore.

i disagree, tony yazbeck was totally do-able!
Re: pointe shoes and ballet lessons: Louise would not be the first child performer to dance en pointe without proper/any training.
Yakeefan--we don't care what you think. You were so nasty in the way you expressed your opinions the first time around, please feel free to refrain from RE-expressing them over and over again.
We GOT it. We KNOW how you feel. Go post in other threads. Just let us alone to enjoy Patti and this production without having to constantly hear your repetitive bitchery.

Imagine, losing a skill of a couple of years. Wholly impossible!
Oh, and to actually contribute to this thread:
I hope some of the costumes are changed. Some of the outfits were pretty awful. I hope Patti gets a different wig.
And that lamb...
if nothing else, a new wig and a new lamb!
..it's not like she wouldn't have been doing it all the time for those years anyway... it's not a huge point.
Anyway, the funding quesiton...is the 9 million dollars a whole new 9 million dollars? Or does that include money spent on the sets already with only new money for base theatre costs andlod in costs and things?
they ARE using the same set, and the orchestra will be onstage again.
who did you hear that from Brian? I know you've said that you knew people on that show before...
