Just came back from wandering down to 45th Street to see if there were any of the 50 thousand CDs they were giving away.
And yes there were... lots and lots.
There was a line about half way down the front of the Music Box theatre waiting to get into a very overcrowded looking lobby where the main cast was sitting signing the CD. Meanwhile there were about a dozen at times other people giving out the CDs in stacks they were holding on the street outside the theater. WPLJ was there with their van out in front.
Some of them were the chorus members and they were signing the CDs if you liked. I got mine signed by Nick Wyman. Twice. Yep, you could get as many as you wanted. I picked up a couple of extras for friends out of town.
As for the CD itself, there is a Limited Edition Dirty Rotten Record label printed onto the CD cover and there are no lyrics or notes printed inside - just photos.
Last interesting thing - this must be so new that when i put it into my iTunes, it had no song titles available when it went to their database.
So wander down if you have time. It's fun. And they will have lots and lots left!
Thanks!

Anyone who picked one up, might you:
1. List the tracks?
2. Post any digital photos you took?
Thanks!
If anyone picked up any extras, can you PM me. I'd be glad to pay shipping to send it to me. I'm dying for this CD and I couldn't go today because I go to high school in New Jersey and I had school. Thanks.

It was kinda fun and not that painful. If all you wanted was the CD (no autographs), they were just handing them out. It took me about 1 1/2 hours to get through the line, but that's because I didn't even leave my office until 11:40. The cast was REALLY nice.
By the way, while I was standing in line, Bruce Vilanch was standing in the street talking to cast members from DRS. I talked to him for a while and WHAT A SWEETHEART!!!! He said he's having a BLAST doing Hairspray and mentioned that they were going to be "dropping him into the pantyhose" shortly for the Wednesday matinee performance. I asked him how long it takes to get into Edna drag -- about an hour. So I told him "at least they don't make you green!!!"
LOLOLOL all around!!!
I'm back too!! It was great and easy! Got 3 CDs, 2 for friends!
The cast was really nice and they had lots of free cds!! :)
I waited in line for about 25-30 minutes.. it was fun!
one woman so bitchy near me..she had nine cd's and was complaining about people butting in front of her and somone took all here cds away she was just vicous
It was fun! Just well, comical in that they were just giving out CD's in a total free-for-all. I got there literally RIGHT after they closed off the line for signatures, but I did snag a CD, so all is well.

nine? wow, I dunno, not to judge, but that does seem a bit excessive ...
when you say "someone took" all the cd's away from her,
who exactly took them? someone in line or someone with the
event?
I'm surprised everyone didn't have 9, given all the requests from people on this board who couldn't make it to NY.
Kinda funny how some people turn rabid when they're getting something for free.

Yeah, nine seems a bit excessive. I got one signed and then picked up another one on the way out. I've got a half a dozen people I know who'd want it so, I don't feel too bad about snagging one extra.
I got there around 10 past 11 and on the way out from getting it signed, I heard them saying that was it for autographs, that they were cutting the line off.
All in all, it was a good time...and yeah, people do get pretty rabid when the word free is thrown into the equation!

If anyone in a moment of kindness can send me one i would love them forever. I too will pay for shipping and handlling.
I just got back, too. I loved it they were so sweet signing autographs, sorry you missed that Emcee. I also saw Bruce Vallanch who went in to talk to the cast, but in line behind me was Barrett Foa, waiting patiently to get his cd signed. It was very fun. I got one extra copy, I didn't feel good about getting any more than that, nine is outlandish it seems.
I was so happy that Joanna Gleason was singing and Norbert was very, very gracious.
The line was really long before they started I was about a quarter of the way up 8th Avenue when I joined the line. There were also a lot of people who knew nothing about the promotion and just stopped by and picked up cds. I'm hoping it works to really draw a lot of new attention to the show.
I saw Barrett, too, penguin. You must have been just a few behind me. Isn't he a cutie!!!!!??????!!!!!!

how was Yazbek's band? oh, and how was the weather? did it rain?
Sure I'll be hearing some from Greg later on, but nice to hear reports from those of you who were there.
The weather was PERFECT. I had my hat and umbrella, but not a drop of rain fell.
Gregory was especially sweet. I spoke to him about the shows I've seen him in (Damn Yankees, DRS, Forever Plaid, Victor/Victoria).

that is great that the weather turned out so nice ... looked like it was from the photos taken outside, but wasn't sure if it was nice the whole time ... so good to hear.
Thanks for the comments about Greg. Lucky you, having seen him in all those shows!

Can I just say how thrilled I was when I saw Barrett Foa there! I think him waiting in that line was the most adorable thing I have ever seen in my entire life. He looked FANTASTIC!

Listening now for the first time. Sounds great!
