Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Tour

What is the deal with the schedule?

The websites: www.dirtyrottentour.com and www.dirtyrottenscoundrelsthemusical.com/tour-info.php don't have any future dates.

Yet, TicketMaster has dates listed, and other dates are listed with individual theaters for their show seasons that are not included with TicketMaster.

Why this disorganization?

It's definitely scheduled for Nashville...I forget when, but it was discussed at the usher training meeting my parents went to. Because frankly the people doing the training said they're a little nervous about that show coming in ~ they'd expressed that concern when the schedule was being made. Concern on all kinds of levels.

jordangirl - why are they concerned exactly? That they won't sell tickets, or is the set a horror or something?

I haven't seen the tour, but I really want to just because I missed it on broadway.

re: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Tour

Most of the subscribers are older and weren't thrilled with the humor in Spelling Bee. So they're concerned they're going to get a LOT of complaints and not sell a lot of tickets. Plus the early reports on the tour (they're around here somewhere) have not been great.

It's so sad. Only a few years ago, after Miss Saigon Nashville was on the top of the list for tours. The facilities and staff is the same, but for some reason they're getting second and third tier tours now. re: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Tour

re: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Tour

The 1st US Tour of DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS was basically a full recreation of the Broadway production staging -- including the turntable platform stage.

Unfortunately, due to the costs of recreating the Broadway staging on the road, it was later scaled down losing that turntable platform as well as several cast members.

The tour is quite scaled down now so if you're expecting to see a visual representation of the original Broadway staging, you're going to be sourly disappointed.

Actually, it still had the turntable.
The Equity National tour (which ended on the 19th) is going Non-Equity.

I knew I should have driven up to CT to see it when I had the chance. Oh well.

I saw the 1st tour in Los Angeles. It was good. I loved it! hopefully this tour is still OK.

Actually the turntable is still in the second tour.

And the girl playing Christine isn't 19.

re: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Tour

20? She looked the part well. That makes me jealous - ha. I saw it tonight here in Birmingham, AL. I was disappointed in parts, but overall I enjoyed myself. I guess it's hard to compare this cast to the OBC, but it's hard to resist. I didn't laugh as much. I felt like most of the cast didn't understand how to deliver a joke properly. Most of the time they'd either talk too fast or slur their words, or cut up the line so that it didn't land and was just awkward. The worst was Suzanne Sole as Muriel. She just needed to stand still and stop shaking. She sang fine, but she lost so many laughs. She eventually calmed down in Act 2 however.

Doug Thompson as Freddie was okay. Of course I loved Norbert, and he really had a Norbert quality about him, but he didn't go far enough with the humor. He needed to be more out there in certain parts and take chances. He just wasn't that interesting to watch. But I thought he played the part fine and added some much needed energy into the whole thing.

Now for the changes to the show. The new opening song is horrible. It's just boring and does nothing for me. Also, when "Buzz" is explaining his problem to Christine he says that he has "dance fever" and says he use to watch "So You Think You Can Dance." Did they do that on B'way, or what did they do in replace of it? I saw the show back in 04 before "So...Dance" even existed. Also, did Muriel always give the tour at the statue? I don't remember that either.
