Has anyone seen this show? Is the CD worth getting if one has not seen it yet?
I love Fantasmic.
I don't have the CD -- is it just a CD of the music??
I would say see the show first, because it's magnificent. But I wouldn't get a CD just for the music, though I might be a little confused on what the CD actually is.
Definitely see the show, though!!

I've seen it about 7 times. It's amazing. I'm seeing it again on New Year's. It's just incredible.
I make it a point to see it every time I'm at Disneyland. I love it. Music is good, I wouldn't get the CD if it is ONLY fantasmic though.
I don't think Disney's all that fantastic, taking over Broadway and all.

Oops...
i love it - and the fantasmic song is definitely one of my ringtones lol
it's still fun if you haven't seen it i think
to answer dotmarie's question - there are two versions of the show on the cd - the first has all the words and narration - the second is just instrumental
fun for any disney lover though - i'm going to disney next week and it's the first thing i do!!!

I love Fantasmic too. The only bad part is waiting a couple hours while you're trying to save seats next to the lake. LOL! But if you time it right, you can eat dinner at the cafe nearby and see the show with a perfect view (and comfy seats).
I think I have the entire song with the narration, etc. on my iTunes somewhere. PM me if you want it.

Looooooooooooooooooove Fantasmic. Everytime I'm down there I make it a point to see this. It's probably the best thing Disney's ever put together. The way so many different things (lights, music, water, fireworks, pyrotechnics, actors) come together is incredible.
The CD is definitely worth getting, because the music is a fabulous compilation of Disney music. And, the new original theme song they wrote is really great. As was already mentioned, the CD contains the show in two versions: the "show" version, which includes all the dialogue and sound effects, and the "studio" version which is the instrumental version. I love that the show version even includes the lady's pre-show announcement.
Adamized88- Where can you download Fantasmic as a ring tone? I want that to be one of my ring tones!!
does the one that includes the main street electrical parade soundtrack have all the dialogue on it or is that the one with just the pre-recorded soundtrack music?
Fantasmic has its very own CD with both versions of the show. The entire show runs about 26 minutes long.
The CD with the Main Street Electrical Parade is the "Official Disney Album" or some such similar name, and contains a portion of the main theme of Fantasmic. I believe it's the finale that's on there. It does include the voices, but it is by no means the entire show. Hope that helps!

I don't know about other versions that have been released, but mine has the full show (with the spoken parts), the 'walking/exit music' (which is instrumental) and the full soundtrack to THE ELECTRICAL PARADE.

The only show I love more than Fantasmic! is IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. Now that is a gorgeous show!! The music is absolutely brilliant, especially when coupled with the now-gone Tapestry of Nations.
How have I been to Disney 5 times and missed this??
They do it in Florida, yes?
Could I just not know the name of it?
I'm seconding Illuminations! We're going to Epcot for New Year's Eve, and I guess there's going to be a *special* Illuminations.

Ooh, maybe they don't do it in Florida, but I know for a fact they do it in Anaheim!!! Sorry, if I mislead anyone
The show is great and very entertaining. I have seen it thousands of times! If the CD is like the show, then it must have good orchestrations (just my 2 cents).
The show is in FLORIDA.........cause I see it EVERY YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its at MGM Studios and its right behind "The Beauty and THe Beast" Show which is next to THe Tower of Terror........whats funny is I just finished watching it on video tape...LOL!!!!
I always see it twice when I go down there.

To clarify a few things ('cuz *I* am getting confused)...
There are two PHYSICAL versions of Fantasmic... the Disneyland version performed on the Rivers of America and the Disney*MGM studios version at Walt Disney World in Florida.
The Florida version is performed in a stadium setting (kinda like Shamu Stadium at Sea World) and the California version just kinda magicly appears and people just stand and watch.
These two shows are also different in their orchestrations and musical selections. So when someone talks about a CD recording that has the FULL SHOW soundtrack to Fantasmic as well as the MAin Street Electrical parade, that person has the DISNEYLAND version of the show. When someone else talks about the the CD recording holding a FULL SHOW sountrack with dialogue as well as a FULL SHOW soundtrack without dialogue, then they are talking about the DISNEY*MGM studios version of the show.
In my opinion, the Disneyland version is better for several reasons: The music flows MUCH better on CD and the use of the Mark Twain for a Finale beats the rickity Steamboat Willie float built for Florida's version. Disneyland also uses the Tall Sailing Ship Columbia for an extravagant Peter Pan scene complete with full rigging, stunts and a cast of over 15 on the ship. Disney*MGM studios has cut this scene and replaced it with a Pocohontas scene. also, to utilize the available space at Disneyland and have all the elements hidden is amazing... while at Florda every special effect element is in plain view of the audience.
It's not quite Broadway material... more like overblown Vegas glitz, but it's still got some pretty good stage value and quality and if this show (Florida or California versions) can take an audience away for 22 minutes and deliver an audible crowd pleasing scream after 10 years of performances, then they might as well be considered great entertainment that can rival Broadway (now if only they could have a live orchestra and singers....)
I'm going to say that I much prefer the MGM version of the show over the Disneyland Show.........To me its so MAGICAL...I love the whole show period. I like the Pocahontas scene awhole lot too.
