Disney's NEWSIES On Broadway--Previews

NEWSIES is basically a dance revue, featuring Disney Theatrical's Tumbling Team, presented as a full-on musical.

You could omit the featured players, as good as some of them are & you'd hardly be worse off for it. The energy, enthusiasm & strong choral work of The Ensemble keeps you engaged quite nicely, thank you.

I agree w the early sentiments about the book, supporting players,& extra material: mediocre &/or under utilized.
I think Ben F. is terribly casted. I wonder if they went for ethnicity over ability.

As far as the intended fan base, I am afraid that Disney is going to market this to the rabid tween & teen fan-girl demographic. If there's anyone who can market to that group & rake in the dollars, it's Disney. Newsie Slash Fiction? Coming to a blog near you. Demi Lovato seen dating a Newsie? Yeppers!

I'll bet that this "limited", "extended" stuff is pure rubbish. It's a slow roll out & it's ment to stay at least thru the 2012 election. "Crutchie" & "Albert" took temporary leave from their Mary Poppins home-base for the PaperMill run but have since left Poppins for good to join Newsies Bdway.

LOTS of actors leave shows for less than permanent shows. They move on.

What the heck does the ELECTION havee to do with anything?
