YES. It's called the "48 hour pickup". If House Tix are not picked 48 hours prior to performance time, the tix are released to the public. Just remember that all the ticket scalpers know this, too, so, most of the time you have to be on speed dial AND get lucky, or go to the BO and get lucky (be flexible)

Yup. ALL venues, from Broadway theatres to concert halls to sporting stadiums/arenas.

This has been happening since the dawn of time AND I've been taking advantage of this scenario since I was a little kid and first learned that the best time to get excellent seats is the day of the performance/concert/game.

My rule is if I don't get the seats I want when they first go on sale, I don't buy anything and then wait until a few days before the event and start checking TicketMaster or TeleCharge. I ALWAYS get the first few rows for everything AND this on events that have a sold-out solid status for weeks/months prior to the performance date.

Thanks to this, I was fortunate in getting four tickets 5th row orchestra center for THE PRODUCERS, 4 months after it opened AND when tickets were impossible to get and crowds were camping-out overnight to get Standing Room Only tickets and premium priced tickets were also nowhere to be found. Same thing with WICKED a month into its run (6 tickets 8th row orchestra center) and 4 tickets 3rd row Floor seats for Madonna's RE-INVENTION TOUR.

My list is endless with the events I've managed to get this way. re: Do they release more tickets to a formerly sold out show online, on the

Start checking like crazy Friday night. Seriously. And I don't mean once every 3 hours -- you have to stick to the computer and keep checking. Sometimes I've managed to score my desired seats at 6am, so you have to be on this. When it happens you have to be ready because they can disappear as quickly as they appeared -- you have to purchase them right then and there. If you leave the screen chances that you find them again are slim-to-none. I always tell my friends in advance and warn them that they can't bail out, so they know the drill and know its a last-minute thing.

Good luck!

Be careful with Ticketmaster, though. If you keep refreshing to check for seats within a short time period, you'll get knocked of TM for 24 hours.
And in no particular order: The Producers; Dirty Rotten Scoundrels; Legally Blonde; God of Carnage; A Steady Rain; Hairspray; Grey Gardens; Spamalot; Jersey Boys; The Odd Couple; Curtains; 39 Steps; Jersey Boys; Doubt; Rent; Mamma Mia; Chicago; Cats; Next to Normal; Memphis; Addams Family; Billy Elliot; Rock of Ages; La Cage aux Folles; Catch Me If You Can; Book of Mormon; Spider-Man; Sister Act; Master Class; How to Succeed...; Priscilla Queen of the Desert; War Horse; Once: Peter and the Starcatcher; Porgy and Bess: One Man Two Guvnors

Yea, Ticketmaster does that to make sure that Scalpers can't get a hold of em.
