Do you see TRAVOLTA as EDNA? ;-)

Namo,
I raised $4,000 for AIDS related charities last year through a theater series i host. And just because i don't talk about something here, does not mean i am not doing things to help.
PS What ever happened to the nice man Namo? He is sadly missed.
PSS Please write your letters anyway, you never know. I think that if Harvey is Edna, others who have not seen theater in other places will be moved to see live Theater. Harvey has a huge gift. He is a tremendous Edna, and no one can replace him.
WRITE WRITE WRITE!
Thanks,
Corine
And Namo, $4000, might not be much but it came from this monsters heart which is all that matters.

There is no harm in writing. The goal is to get noticed....if you feel strongly about something, do whatever you can.
Personally, I think it's ridiculous that Travolta is even being considered. If I were John Travolta, I would tell the producers that not only would I not play the part, but unless they cast Harvey in the role, I wouldn't even see it! :)

Where was this kind of passion when MLP got passed over for the film version of PROOF?
I sent my letter out today. I didn't really like the show, but I love Harvey, and would love to see him do the movie.

Why not ask Shaiman to put it on Broadwayworld. While they are at it they can ask Robin to become Edna.
Robin is cool, would love to see him as Edna in the film.
Robin as Edna, Travolta as Wilbur. That is great casting.
So where do we send the letters if we want Robin Willliams to ruin the film?

Posted: 3/2/05 at 3:39pmI'm writing and asking that they consider Brian Denehy for the role. His dramatic depth will allow a certain poignancy that Harvey doesn't have.

Posted: 3/2/05 at 3:40pmAs a person living and working in Baltimore, I would be upset if they cast someone like John Travolta in the role. I met him here at the airport when he was flying in to do Ladder49. He is a nice person but god let us be blessed with Harvey in the role. And I do believe they need to have Ricki Lake cameo. She should do something in the show. I think it would be a hoot.

So John sweetie,
Will you write? Even better, Fax.
212-489-7437.
Brian Denehy would be amazing. I love him. I met him when he starred in Trumbo and he gave me a giant hug. I still want Harvey though.

"On the contrary, I can give you several names of Bd'w performers that absolutely discourage their fans from writing in their behalf for obvious reasons."
Your mistake, Pati, was writing "for obvious reasons." You're writing to Corine. "Obvious" and she are not even acquainted. I recommend spelling it out, maybe something along the lines of "you could end up doing more harm than good, you ninnie."
On the other hand, look how well the wailing and gnashing of teeth by the Crawford Phans helped the Phantom movie turn out.
Corine, great that you raised 4 grand through a theater series you hose, but technically, doesn't it mean it came "from the heart" of those who gave the money? Which AIDS charities did it go to?

Not a mistake, Namo. Easy, bunky! It was my attempt at being tactful. But since you brought it up...here goes. "Obvious reasons" can mean...
1.When fans write to the powers that be it sometimes appears that they have been coached to do so and who would benefit more than the star seeking the spot? That's one backfire!
2. Not all fans are created equal. For every theater saavy fan presenting valid, logical reasons to cast a certain performer, there's sure as shootin' a gang of fans that will hit them with statments like "What are you thinking? ::blank:: is perfect for that role. Don't you read the reviews? I think ::blank:: is too ...whatever.. to ever do that role. The same thing happened with Melanie Griffith. Stunt Casting never lasts, etc, etc" Backfire # 2/
This is exactly the type of hype that actors shudder over. Not to mention that if you are working in this business in any capacity, general public rallying for a performer
is not the best thing for your personal reputation. If you have inside connections to decision makers...then that's a different story. Move ahead tactfully and privately.
IE: I offered to approach Wildhorn in behalf of BWW's RedHot...now that he's "available". Sadly he (RedHot) declined.
JUST PULLIN' YOUR ROPE!
Look, no bad vibes here, please. Good intentions sometimes go up in smoke and smoke damage is hard to erase. Peace!

Posted: 3/3/05 at 4:41pmSo, now I am like really confused. Are we supposed to write that we really want Harvey so the producers WON'T cast him? Thus giving the awful Robin Williams a good shot at it? Or does Corine really want Harvey? What is the deal? And why does this thread keep changing subject titles? Someone help me sort it all out cuz I gone snap!

Who IS that masked man, Sueleen? And is that the lady from The Goat next to him?
I think you're right, it's a reverse psychology thing. Corine2 is trying to trick us into writing so Harvey won't get the gig for some cruel reason.

Namo, it's Sybil, of course. A woman of many faces. I don't have a clue who the foxy stud is.
I just heard, by the way, that John Travolta is out of the running for a couple of reasons. First because of the frantic e-mail/fax campaign forged in his favor to the producers. And secondly and even more importantly, his cult...er I mean his religion won't allow men to wear dresses.
