This is why people don't sing in real life situations....
#2re: Do you think this is ready for Broadway?
Posted: 3/12/08 at 11:55pmthough I would love to sing in real life to explain my needs, wants and feelings.

Those reactions were priceless.

With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-

There was a video on youtube a while ago with the same concept except it was people waiting for their trains in a European train station, and they busted out into a spontaneous opera. It was the best of the "Reality Musical" genre.
Good stuff.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I just came across this food court video today and thought it was hysterical.
The library and lecture musicals are pretty funny too.

Priceless.
BTW, didn't Woody Allen make a film some time ago where the actors (Leonardo DiCaprio, Mia Farrow?) sung in their real, awful voices. Anyone remember the title of this? I think it took place in Italy?

Everyone Says I Love You which took place in NYC, Paris and Venice. It starred Alan along with numerous others including Julia Roberts, Edward Norton, Natalie Portman, Goldie Hawn and Tim Roth. Woody Alan suggested that everyone sing in a natural subdued manner to make it more realistic.
btw, I love these videos :)
"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor
"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl
"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

That video is awesome!
This is why I love this website so much! You guys turned me on to Improv Everywhere with this. Otherwise, I never would have known!
It keeps me coming back.
Thanks!

MrSweetNAwful -- for the record, it is Woody ALLEN, not Alan.

Posted: 4/11/08 at 4:21pmI know a group of teenagers who replicate this food court musical all the time. Not nearly as funny as the original, but it's great. Some of their lyrics just kill me (rhyming "by chance" with "mustard on my pants", for example).
