Are the ushers at the Delacorte volunteers or paid?
What about the "security" guys near the stage door after the show?
I'm not 100% on this, but I believe that the security guards are paid staff, while the ushers are a combination of staff and interns. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I think they're paid, actually. Every May or so, the Public puts an ad up on Playbill Jobs for people to come down and interview for ushering positions. From what I recall, when I considered going out, it was paid.

Paid or not they are fantastic. The security guy who worked the line on Sunday had a fantastic voice, I'm sure he is an actor in training. Clear delivery and polite but firm demeanor. Both the security people on the ticket line and the ushers inside the theater were adamant that no photos could be taken and if they were they would be deleted. The woman in front of me on Sunday clearly didn't get the message, she snapped a photo of the empty stage before the show started and they came over and made her delete it. Would that all shows on or off Broadway employed such dedicated people who enforced the rules. They were always polite but strong, and they serve as a model of how to restore common courtesy to the theater.
I'm actually on the house staff there...we're paid. And thanks, boombaboy, lol...wish my boss could see your comment!
