Don't leave me this way!

Ghost has been offered The Palace for a late Spring 10 opening.

They wanted The Cambridge but Chicago wouldn't transfer/close and is still doing solid.

Not sure what the future is on Priscilla as this came from somebody to do with Ghost

I SWEAR IF PRISCILLA CLOSES BEFORE I GET TO SEE IT I WILL PAY FOR THE WHOLE CAST TO DO THE SHOW IN MY GARDEN IF I HAVE TOO! Why cant ghost ttake the picadilly. It wont be such a loss of grease

Grease will hold on to it until the summer and then Flashdance is bound

re: Don't leave me this way!

AG2, I've spoken to 3 people i know in the cast since you posted this thread and none know anything (they were, however, rather shocked!).
Then they did say that, as it always is, they would be the last to be told anyway!

re: Don't leave me this way!

Cast are always last to known, esp. when things are not signed.

Apparently the show was only scheduled in for a year anyway...I'm hoping they decide to transfer for the show somewhere else as it just isn't work at The Palace, everyday the Box Office are having issues with customers and seating and TV screens do look very odd! It should have gone to The Prince Edward

The year slot is very true and they are contracted till March. They have spoken about a possible transfer now and again as the show is selling very well. The question is, which theatre would it it take?

The garrick of maybe the domion?

re: Don't leave me this way!

Well, if it did, and Really Useful are producing, I'd imagine they'd want it to go to one of there homes. The Adelphi would be great - but unless Webber abadons that project thats that theatre out - and there isn't any other theatre available.

It would be perfect if Jersey Boys transfered to a more suited theatre like the Gielgud (it annoys me so much they have such a big stage - its a waste) and Priscilla transfered in.

I think they show is selling - but not aswell as hoped alas. Such a shame - they have missed a lot of marketing potential over the summer - they could have done pride shows/floats etc but didn't.

Eight months is a long time - if the show isn't performing at peak now... I would hate this show to go as its one of the few highlights in the west end.

"The garrick of maybe the domion? "

The Garrick seats less than half as many as the Palace and also has sight line issues (as, I recall, does the Cambridge but I haven't been there since Jerry Springer when I sat up front).

The Dominion is bigger than the Palace and WWRY isn't going anywhere.

re: Don't leave me this way!

They would get the bus on stage at the Garrick! lol

re: Don't leave me this way!

re: Don't leave me this way!

Its always there but way upstage.
The system they have off flying out and storing set pieces is something amazing. As large as the Palace stage is it still has a lot to hide with this show.
During previews (not sure if this still happens- doubt it) but as things came of stage they were being taken directly out thru the scene dock door to the street until they could be taken back in and flown side stage!
a walk past the scene dock during the show provide you with a direct view on stage!!!

re: Don't leave me this way!

To be honest it would not suprise me if Priscilla came out of the Palace and they went with Ghost. Ghost would be huge (Like Dirty Dancing) just because of the name alone, Priscilla was not a very commercial film and those who did love it were mainly gay.

I dont think its a secret (as someone else said) that Priscilla is not selling as well as they had hoped, and with the running cost for the show been so huge they would be sensible to finish out the year and then close the show and get that bus on the road around the UK as it would clean up on tour.
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

re: Don't leave me this way!

The only time they have gone below the break even is these two weeks now when Jason has been on holidays.
I've just been told that they have just set up cast change auditions for the first week in October. Thats a lot of work and money to set up if they don't expect to go into next year with it.
Will keep all posted as I get reports back on this one.

The Garrick! Never mind the bus, i doubt they could fit the wigs on the stage!!

Well even if they recast for Jan-April slot...Its not uncommon to re-cast show even if its not likley to have another year in its run.

The market isn't exactly hugely opened...

re: Don't leave me this way!

As you said, 'Ghost' is slated for late Spring or later, thats like May time.
It would be great if she got a year at the Palace.
The show will need a real boost when the stunning Tony Sheldon and Jason leave. That will be its testing point I think.

re: Don't leave me this way!

Difference with DD is it has songs that are known and loved. Ghost doesnt.

Seems a big venue for what should be a small scale show. Have my doubts as to how successful it will be.

re: Don't leave me this way!

Although Jason Donovan is probably the weakest thing in Priscilla, he's a draw and I think sales would drop off when he leaves and I imagine Tony Sheldon will go to the Toronto Production of Priscilla and hopefully Broadway.

Ghost doesn't strike me as a big show for some reason although I have no idea what it's going to look like. The Novello would be good but it has such bad luck with musicals lately that I think they should stick with plays.

re: Don't leave me this way!

Tony Sheldon will not be going to the Toronto production because the Toronto production has been shelved.

re: Don't leave me this way!

I actually think Priscilla will be perfect in the Price Edward Theatre! I hope it don't leave soon! it's a fab musical!
