She played the doctor in the first "set-up" scene of the show. Brief, but figured y'all would want to know in case its sitting on your DVR waiting to be watched ;]

I was a little pissed, I must say. You have DONNA MURPHY on your show and this is what you let her do?? Her whole performance was less than 4 minutes, with barely 5 lines. A total waste.

At least I know she's going to be recurring, so I hope they give her something better to do next time.

Didn't she play a lawyer at some point on one of the other L&O's? I'm actually positive that she did but I can't remember which.

the multi-show franchise throws the various "Bibles" for continuity out the window a lot....Orbach played a lawyer in one episode before being cast as a regular detective, and one of the SVU female DA's played a erotic-asphyxiation junkie who helped rape a male stripper and then tried to cover it up by helping to kill a co-conspirator. With so many re-runs on so many channels, it's fun sometimes to see who else shows back up playing other characters. Both those two examples were within the same show's history...crossing over to other sibling shows makes more sense (i guess). Remember when Julia Roberts was dating Benjamin Bratt, and showed up on his series as a Hollywood temptress who helped break up his character's marriage? "ripped from the headlines" indeed.

I think she's been on Law and Order 2 or 3 times before but this is by far her smallest appearance. I was so excited only to be like "they gave DONNA MURPHY a bit part?" When she opened I was hoping she would be majorly featured but alas no.

She was definitely under-used in this episode, but her character definitely has opportunity to return.
Heck they bring back actors to play 2 different characters.

I could have seen her playing a victim's mother or a wife or something. She's got dramatic chops that Donna Murphy

Someone needs to write this woman a musical, play, or something. I would have love to see her play Barbara in AUGUST: OC, though she might come off as too sophisticated. Thinking about it, I'm not sure if I can imagine Donna Murphy saying "mom's Pussy."
I would love it if she got her own TV show too, not one of those awful sitcom roles though. She would be fantastic in a show like DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES or BROTHERS & SISTERS.
I've never seen LAW & ORDER.

she showed up? haha sorry i had to. I could see Donna Murphy as Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia.
