Fosse- I understand where you are coming from...if I understand you correctly all you wanted from Ms. Murphy was the statement that she was sick. She did say that she was sick in the interview that I gave the link to in my other post and in this article: http://www.playbill.com/news/article/86574.html.
She also stated that she had a doctor's note for every single missed performance in the NY Times article, "The No-Show Business."
I don't think it would be fair to anyone, including a performer, to ask them to delve into personal problems. I think it suffices when a performer says they are ill. Ms. Murphy did state that in those articles, and possibly others, that I did not come across. Perhaps, a more visible statement should have been made by the producers as was done with Julie Andrews' health issues during "Victor Victoria."

Posted: 10/17/05 at 6:51pmWow, thanks for that article Ruth Sherwood, I am constantly amazed by Murphy's professionalism and humbleness. She is really not a diva and I think she justified her absences pretty well, she's not guilty of having health issues. I definitely admire her and it is sad that some reporters would try to put her down. She so needs to go back to the stage.
