Donna Summer Musical on its way!

Ado Annie D'Ysquith said: "Wasn't there a lot of hate for Ariana DeBose on these forums recently? She's obviously a great talent, so why the hate? Or did I just imagine that..."

She said that she was done doing ensemble parts and only wanted lead roles from now on.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

Will any of the songs she wrote for Ordinary Girl be featured? I've heard the lead single from that, "My Life" (which is gorgeous!), and I would hope others from Donna's self-written musical might be incorporated into this. I'd rather see a new story with new songs (and some of the hits mixed in if it's necessary to include them at all), rather than your standard jukebox/bio musical. Honestly, her life didn't have any drama in it. Aside from her debasing the gays (and then recanting), she was a pretty easygoing personality and easy going persons just don't make for good theatre.

And I really don't think there's room for this and the Cher jukebox/bio musical. Especially considering they're doing a lot of the same things (i.e., diff't actresses portraying the lead character at diff't points in their life). And, Cher has an interesting and provocative life that is much more suited for the theatrical stage (as well as a much better and wider song catalog).

Same director and choreographer. Ain't Too Proud, the Temptations musical, was extended again and will wrap up in Berkeley on Nov. 5. And then they're off to La Jolla for another jukebox musical. I assume they will be leaving early because it seems like the Donna Summer musical could use its director and choreographer, but what do I know? I guess this may mean there won't be many late tweaks made to Ain't Too Proud before the end of its Berkeley run.

Is it just me or is this an extraordinary number of jukebox bio musicals?

Danced my arse off in the days to her music but never saw her perform. Did she do stadium shows with lots of back up dancers etc like today or just a band and her singing?

Reason for asking is, will 'she' use lots of spunky male dances in the ensemble?

SweetLips, Saw her twice in performance. Both times, just a band and that exquisite voice. She may have had back up singers but no dancers. By the time I saw her, any stadium shows were behind her. The first time seeing her was at Chastain Park in Atlanta which holds about 7 thousand. The last time was around 2008 at a smaller theater in Ft Lauderdale which held about 3 thousand. If you can get a cheap copy of her last cd Crayons or find it on youtube, etc, take a listen. It is quite good.
