at the Zero church street in Boston, part of the A.R.T./MXAT Institute for Advanced Theatre Training. I saw the last show on Saturday...all I can say is it was great and I wish they had more performances so others could see it.
I think it was an encore from the fall production they did but all I can say is wow, they did a good job of bringing it to the stage! It was a very cool adaptation.

haha well they adapted it for the stage with permission from the studio and I believe richard kelly. it is all legit. I will have to look at my program again to see who and what. it was done very well. I mean some stuff was left out but not much. They used their space well.
and some picture too if you scroll down

That would be a very odd thing to present... the rabbit...the countdown...the plane engine crashing into the house. Donnie deterioration...

I love Donnie Darko but can't see it working well onstage.
I will tell you they did, and it did. it worked. did you see the production photos? Maybe it was just the cast but it all worked for me.
THIS IS AWESOME!!! Donnie Darko is one of my favorite movies. I saw it two years ago at the Darien Independent Playhouse, before anyone knew about it. I'm so happy that it has skyrocketed into a modern cult classic... and a stage play. Updated On: 3/29/04 at 05:33 PM
it's a show??? I've only ever seen the movie! which was more than a lil freaky! how'd they do it on the stage??

That movie confused the hell out of me. I still don't understand what happened.

The movie, made in the aftermath of the Columbine event, is about moral choice. Updated On: 3/30/04 at 08:42 PM
the play was well staged, it was in an old church basement which looked like it was once a gym but it is a theater now. They used every part of this place. it worked so well for that. they used music (not the 80's soundtrack though)...frank when he said 28 days was said in a weird computerized voice. Fog machines behind the door which he appeared. Donnie used chalk on the floor and the door that frank came out of. it worked really well. Sparkle Motion did a little dance. I mean some things like i said were not done as the movie but it was great I have to say. Some cast memebers were stronger then others too but I am mad i caught the last show (my friend saw it on craigs list and emailed me about it, to see if I would go with her.) so I only knew of the last show and was not sure what to make of it.
Look at the production photos to see a little glimpse of how they did some of it.
