For anyone who loves Dorothy Loudon, go to that site and search for Dorothy Loudon. You'll find Ms. Loudon performing Poor Thing and The Worst Pies in London from Sweeney Todd.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I posted the Loudon commercial. She is definitely my favorite Lovett.

There are 3 different commercials, all great and I love the powder blasting off the dough as she emerges through it.

I love how she gets all into that second verse, practically shimmying and throwing her flour around, "With the price of meat what it is, when you get it..."

Great stuff.

What a fearless talent.

Her demise is truly the most chilling of all Lovetts.

I've been lucky enough to listen to an audio of Loudon in the role. She sounds fantastic as Mrs.Lovett, I can only imagine what seeing her live must have been like. What a marvelous performer!

"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

She plays the role as less deadpan than Patti and less over-the-top as Angela. She's like a perfect balance.

The soundboard of opening night is posted on Youtube too for those interested. I had never heard it before and that extended organ sequence was fantastic with the weaving of Linnet Bird and strains of Epiphany in there. I know that the whole of it wasn't recorded on the OBC and certainly not heard on the tour dvd, was it permanently changed or does it just seem to be abridged everywhere?

Dorothy Loudon was sensational, a very different, far nastier but very worthy replacement for Angela Lansbury. She practically screamed the lines "I love you, I'd be twice the wife she was, I love you, could that thing have cared for you like me" and the desperation was chilling. And she was, as has been noted, hysterically funny as well. Her BY THE SEA was especially hilarious. IMHO, she was a better match for George Hearn - they balanced each other out extremely well.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

I completely agree D2. Her "I lied cause I love you, I've been twice the wife she was, I love you, could that thing have cared for you like me?" was chilling. Most of the other Lovett's just sing it, but she really put emotion into it.

And as you said, her "By the Sea" is hilarious too.

During her run, she was on a talk show and did By the Sea. It was great. Does anyone remember what the talk show was?
