Never much liked the song (I know its reason for existing, just didn't like it), but IMO she doesn't come close to Lansbury, just as she didn't in the show.

I thought both actresses brought something magnificently special to the role.

Listen to her sing "Sur Les Quais" from "Lolita, My Love" it will knock your socks off.

That was downright restrained by Dorothy Loudon's standards.
I'm curious, Jarethan, what you think is the purpose of the song in the snow?
(To me, it's the moment when I realize Lovett is as deranged as Todd--"Now and then you can do the guest in..."--and that's important to know before the action comes to a climax.)

I am not sure if I actually concluded at that point that she was truly deranged. That song made me think that she almost took for granted that somehow the rest of her life was going to be like a picture post-card, and that she was going to have a happy ending. I would say that either deranged, self-deluded or oblivious could be argued.
