Doubt Today

Who was there at Doubt today?

I must say that the show was phenomenal. There was entrance applause for Cherry, and well deserved. Her performance today was intense, the confrontation with Father Flynn was well recieved, and her funny lines were hysterical. O'Byrne was amazing as well. Leaving the audience in complete doubt and capturing us in his sermons and his side of the story. Heather was perfect. I personally loved the way she approached her character especially how she used her voice and accent to expand on it. She was innocent and naive and a very sympathetic character. Then of course miss Lennox who brings down the house with her one scene, applause roared when she exited.

There were no speeches when they bowed. They all got flowers, and left. Then came back for a more personal bow. Cherry and Brian kissed. Cherry and Adrien shared a kiss on the cheek and walked off holding each other. Heather did a little jig and was absolutely gitty. It was quite a site.

re: Doubt Today

98 posts on a thread about Shoshana Bean's last show in Wicked. 2 for Cherry's last show in Doubt.

It figures.

If it counts, I already have my tickets to see Eileen, Ron, and Jena....can't wait to see if my opinion of Father Flynn will change.

re: Doubt Today

I don't think it's a shame at all. I think it's exciting that a new American play gets to have a second cast on Broadway.

I'd love to hear more reports on their last performance...anyone care to indulge me?

I'll be seeing the show this weekend with the new cast and absolutely can't wait!

re: Doubt Today

I am still mourning, but at the same time, looking forward to seeing the new cast.

I was there...the performance was just incredible. Cherry and Brian were perfect. And for the first time... I was amazed by Ms Lennox. Don't get me wrong. I liked her, but I was not sure why this role was for the Tony. That night, I figured...and I saw Doubt 9 times. Pretty dumb of me, huh? I admit.

At the stage door...Brian and Cherry did not come out early. Waited about 40 min. Then they came...Brian finished signing all the Playbills, and went somewhere...then he shouted "Cherry!" from the other side of 48th. Cherry did not noticed since she was talking to the fans. Then he came back and said "sorry everyone, Cherry will be back in 2 min..."...it turned out they wanted their photo in front of the theatre together and they want it before lights go out. It was so cute when Brian was sticking his left arm out to take his own picture with Cherry. One of the fan ran there and take one for them.

I will miss them.

re: Doubt Today

I saw three of their last four shows, including the Sunday final. They were excellent in all three, but on Sunday they pulled out all the stops. There's no way Cherry could have done eight shows a week at that level. Even after seeing it two days in a row, it still gave me goosebumps.

I'm not sure who all was in the audience, but Shanley was on one aisle and Tim Robbins on the other.

re: Doubt Today

And today, the entire new cast has the flu?! I know how nasty the flu can be, but this is strange...
