Amen, Mr. Midwest. Donna is a trivial role calling for overacting in a trivial piece of fluff (I don't mean that negatively, by the way, I love it). To suggest otherwise just shows one's ignorance of what the movie really is.

Some negative buzz



the film reviewer Kris Tapley at Incontention.com just struck the name of Streep off from the newly updated version of his Oscar prediction chart.


He just explained to me as follows:


Granted, I have not seen "Doubt," but I have talked to some who have and I've been hearing it could be a dud. And a good performance in a bad film is still a performance in a bad film. There are plenty who think the film is a mess. One person said Streep could suffer from the old "a bad film is a bad film" thing.



OK, this makes me a little bit worried for the film's prospects. But Smaxie on this board said it is a very good film adaptation, right?

I think Hoffman is a wonderful actor but I just don't want to see him in this role. That alone may keep me away from the theater and just wait for the DVD.

Why don't you give Hoffman a chance? We all know that guy is a chameleon.

What worries me a little bit now is Shanley's direction.
