Did you read something somewhere, or is this just pessimism?

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

It has been so long & from the song list it appears not worth the wait

I would have to say pessimism

The song list is what disappoints me. It seems as though they are still going to release it though.
I want to hear the whole thing so I can make up my mind about the show.

I second your pessimism.

supposedly February 2006 which would be 14 months after the show closed

if they were going to wait this long they might as well have recorded with the original cast

Wasn't it scheduled to come out this month? Why is EVERYTHING being delayed?

The original cast would NOT come back to record the show.

I don't even care anymore. Sorry, Wildhorn. My usernames refers to Dracula, the Musical - I still wear my T-shirt. But this CD is disappoiting.

Call me when it's released.

I'm actually still waiting for the 10 commandments cast recording because I love me some Lauren Kennedy, so I know how you feel about the the wait for the Dracula recording. Sorry guys.

With a few minor exceptions, I enjoyed this show.

Why bother? It's the most forgettable score ever. I don't even remember anything from the show (I'm trying to forget it as best I can).

And on another note:

"Although composer Wildhorn owns his work (along with Dracula lyricists Christopher Hampton and Don Black), the rights to a recording of a Broadway musical's score are usually tied up by its Broadway producers for the duration of the New York run, plus 19 weeks.

Equity requires producers to get permission from the union for any and all recorded documents of the show, including a cast album.

Equity rules indicate that a cast recording that does not use the union's actors cannot happen until 19 weeks after the close of a show."

Ugh, when's this coming out? I hate when Cast Recordings are just awaiting release for forever! I mean look at Summer of '42! Jeez.

Summer of '42 is a strange case. I was at the York Theatre benefit concert in May 2005, and they were recording the NEXT DAY. And that was seven months ago, which was over three years from the shows off-broadway closing.

Weird. It seems weird for someone to record this show, but not record like Lennon & In My Life who actually were on Broadway and ppl can recognize them more, ya know? Weird. Well I hope it gets released soon. And i really want the Dracula recording.

Much ado about nothing.

We loved the show but the CD , if it ever sees the light of day ( pardon the pun ) will be anti climatic. The song list does not warm the cockles of my heart

Um ... what are cockles? And how do they get in your heart!!?!?! And why would you want them warmed?! re: Dracula CD R.I.P. ?

I saw the show on the last Saturday preview before the Thursday night Opening. You know it's gonna be a doozy when at 2:15 PM Des McAnuff (I know I butchered that!) comes on stage, introduces himself and tells the audience to "bear with them". Now, this was before the "No Nudity" matinees, so at least there was THAT to entertain me. And WHAT was that machine that just ripped off Kelli O'Hara's clothes?!?! Then there was the scene where Melissa Errico takes off her top to get bitten by Dracula. I looked at my wife and was like, "Now, OK. I realize that we have been married several years, but I don't recall your boobs being anywhere near your neck!!!"

I believe the whole reason for this recording is so that Wildhorn can use it to help market the show for additional productions.

Hanna if that was the case Frank would just use the 2 demo recordings that he had already made. Frank's point for making the concept recording was to have something that he is proud of for his fans.

They are currently working on the liner notes and the unoffical cd release date is march.

Kelli is not on it, but Lauren Kennedy is on it. Her voice is amazing and fits the show very well.
