re: Drama Desk Awards Tonight

I think Toxic Audio's "Turn The Beat Around" just broke my feed all by itself (and no I'm not sorry I'm missing the rest of their performance)...

On the website it says that Taboo will be performing. Are they still going to perform or have they already? Thanks

Glad to see the Assassins wins and the Best Music win for Caroline or Change over Wicked. These are well chosen I believe. I like seeing that Wicked isn't sweeping.

I wish I had gotten to see Big River
And hang on, when did you win the discus?
#37

re: Drama Desk Awards Tonight

The Big River revival was truly one of the defining moments of musical theatre not only in the new millenium but in the entire history of the art of musical theatre.

re: Drama Desk Awards Tonight

Euan Morton sounds great doing "Stranger In this World" but with that scruffy beard he looks an awful lot like Raul Esparza (not that that's a bad thing).

Raul Esparza just won!! YAYYYY! Now he needs to win the Tony.

re: Drama Desk Awards Tonight

Idina Menzel didn't win? WOW!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Sorry girls of WICKED... looks like you're cancelling each other out across the awards this year...
Call it a regime change...

re: Drama Desk Awards Tonight

Congratulations to Hugh, Donna, Isabel, and Raul on the Musicals front; also to WICKED and ASSASSINS! Looks like they spread the goodies all around re: Drama Desk Awards Tonight...Caroline or Change did win best music.

re: Drama Desk Awards Tonight

I wonder how much of an indication this is of what the Tonys will be like... especially on the Kristin/Idina/Donna front. I guess all we can do is stay tuned....

re: Drama Desk Awards Tonight

I don't understand why everyone is so surprised that Donna won, shes fantastic in her role. I don't really know if I believe they cancelled each other out...Maybe, just maybe, she got it because she was actually good.
And hang on, when did you win the discus?

re: Drama Desk Awards Tonight

I hope this is an indication of Isabel Keating's chances for the TONYs. It is a marvellous performance!

re: Drama Desk Awards Tonight

I think there is a great chance that Donna would have won even without the Wicked girls cancelling each other out, but you can't deny that the cancellation helps Donna.

I think the Tonys will really be between Donna and Tonya though. Donna is the favorite, but Tonya has some very staunch supporters.

re: Drama Desk Awards Tonight

Donna is great, but her role is nowhere near as demanding or as complex as some of the other nominees.
