re: Drama Desk awards on 13 (PBS)

I checked my local listing and the Drama Desk Awards are on the spanish channel (13). Well, of course it's not going to be in spanish or anything.

I completly forgot about the Drama Desk Awards. Thanx for the reminder. I'm watching them now.

Wow...THRILL ME has terrible music and lyrics...

Why did they choose to rearrange the order of the show?

No, just desperately trying to be taken seriously.

Paige was a delight, and just reminded me of how much I miss her on tv and stage. It's still a sin she didn't get to replace Applegate in Charity.

Her cricket noises really did it for me. That was the point where I was like "Okay, give this woman a role on Broadway - look how desperate she is..."

Did they already pass Christines performance? I wanted to tape it when it was played after seeing it on the video feed live.

I agree on him making mean comments, but he's such a nice guy.

Alliez, if you're in Boston, then I think it will be on next week. I checked the listings online and it should be on WGBH (44) June 4 at 3:30pm.

What was going on with the audio on the Drowsy Chaperone performance?

I just tuned in- so were the mics that bad for everyone else?

Jonathan Pryce is just awesome with that little speech.

Beth's earrings were hitting the mic....Question....I know the awards are presented at LaGuardia High School. Is all of the tech stuff done by the students? It would explain alot of the lighting, sound and camera difficulties.

The audio wasn't bad on the other performances but several of the presenters/winners couldn't work with the mics at the podium. The audio went in and out a lot of times when the audience was clapping.

1. What was with the three crowd shots they had? One was of Kathleen Marshall, another of Meghan Lawrence, and one of Jim Dale and some Ellen Degeneres look-a-like behind him. They couldn't have stationed other cameras by Sutton? Patti? Or shown the nominees when their names were called? I know it's low budget, but it seemed they were more unorganized and bland than trying to cut expenses.

2. Why was Lois Smith so absurd and crazy? And, not to be too much of a queen, but where did she get that outfit?

3. Fran's comment about John Lloyd Young being gay = Ouch! Fran Drescher (i'm paraphrasing what she said after JLY's speech): "I'm shocked he has a girlfriend!"

Performances were pretty awful -- Christine didn't do it for me, (her acceptance speech was cute though) and Jacques Brel folks sounded awful (maybe mic problems? I hope?)

Kudisch was smokin' hot - but that song doesn't play well if it's not in the context of the show.

It was strange not to see ANY Color Purple people. Waste of two hours, but I guess it was better than watching another "who's the baby daddy" Maury show...
