I cannot believe that Alice Ripley was not nominated for "Next to Normal." I mean they nominated James Snyder for Cry Baby!!!!
Anyway, I hope that Deanna Dunagun or Amy Morton take it.

If anyone has a chance at it from a musical, it's Patti, but it'll probably end up in the hands of an August woman, which is just as awesome!

I hope LuPone && Benanti take it! They are the best IMO
I believe only one actor can win, so the chances of both LuPone and Benanti winning are extremely slim, if not nil. I think LuPone may take it, though Patrick Stewart is a possibility. It's a real shame Kelli O'Hara, Boyd Gaines and other notables were looked over, however.
No you are all wrong its totally going to The Little Mermaid (how did she get nominated over Kelli O'Hara)
i cant believe kelli wasnt nominated either. not sure who will get the award, i am still thinking about it. who would you think has the best ensemble for best musical and best play?.
OK, CATERED AFFAIR won Distinguished Production of a Musical, and didn't even get a Tony nomination
Are the awards always this weird?

CONGRATES PATTI :)
Way to go, patti
Woop! For Patti and A Catered Affair!
WOW, Patti won out of ALL of those performances?
That's great.
I'm very happy, she was INCREDIBLE !
Further proof why A Catered Affair should have been nominated over Cry-Baby.
Yeah, I'm glad A Catered Affair got some recognition somewhere. And yay for Patti LuPone... she just needs to keep racking them up!

I hope A Catered Affair wins out in the end and gets to perform on the Tonys. It deserves to be there.

Earlier this year (and even in this thread) everyone was bitter about how the Drama Leaguge was wrong in not nominating certain people (Kelli O'Hara most notably) and nominating others (James Snyder for example).... but as soon as they choose A Catered Affair as the best musical, suddenly the Drama League is smarter than the Tony nominators.
Wonderful
We never said they were smarter than the Tony awards, we were just happy that A Catered Affair is getting the recognition it deserves.
The Drama League voters are a group of nobodies who pay $40 a year for membership and voting privileges.
Any person on this board can become a Drama League voter for $40.
I'm happy with the results this year, but these awards have zero credibility.
