Does anyone else think DOUBT would make a great movie? Perhaps they could add in some more characters (i.e. the nun who is going blind, Donald, the Monsignior).
I loved everyone in the Broadway cast but I feel like they may have to get a name for one of the leads-I would vote to keep Cherry Jones and get someone else for the priest-my boyfriend suggested Tim Robbins? And Alfre Woodard for Mrs. Muller? Can't think of a good Sister James from Hollywood.
Any ideas?
KEEP THIS CAST! THEY ARE OUTSTANDING! TALK OF ANYTHING ELSE IS BLASPHEMY! BLASPHEMY!!!
Meryl Streep will more than likely be doing the movie.
Is there any serious talk for the movie? I assume you say Meryl Streep is the likely choice because she is the "A" list actress of the main character's age...
I could just as easily see this as a made for cable movie starring Glenn Close, Emma Thompson, Julie Christie, Sissy Spacek etc.
I'd personally be happy with a live telecast of the Broadway cast, who are superb, and also because I don't consider this a piece particularly well suited to film.
There has been serious talk of the movie--and Streep is apparently attached. I'm not sure if this is certain, but it came from a good source. :)
Glenn Close did the reading of the play back when.
I wish they would just keep the OBC. But, that's Hollywood for ya.
They can drop Goldenhersh, but O'Byrne, Jones, and Lenox should stay. But, as Jerby said, Hollywood can be fickle.
I'd rather they dropped O'Byrne and kept Goldenhersh.
If they do this as a movie, I hope they would keep the same OBC but subconsiously know that they won't. There is no way all four OBC members would be rehired for the film. Producers etc would never take a chance on relativley unknown names forming the entire cast. Tony Award winners or not. Sorry, but its inevitable if they do this as a film. And believe me, I want Jones, Goldenhersh, Lenox, and O'Byrne in the film as much as the next person.
I doubt anyone noticed, but I suggested Meryl Streep several days ago. She would be perfect.
Streep is great, but the stage is cast is perfection. I love Cherry Jones. Why change that? I agree with the poster who who doesn't think Doubt is particularly well suited for film.
