I agree with you there. Just sometimes I think we need to be more forgiving. They haven't had any training in theatre, and as we all know, the movies and the stage are two separate things. And even if they are terrible in their roles, they are helping the show stay afloat.

(I know I'm being hypocritical. If you've read all my past posts in this thread, you know why. But this is really how I feel.)

Its worked in the past. Joel Grey and Yul Brenner both werent well know and they ended up winning the Oscar.

The Ashanti thing was just a joke. I reallllly can't stand her because she can't sing worth a dime even in the R&B world. Michelle isn't a huge part anyways. You kinda need someone pretty and "so-whatish" to play Michelle because her story line is the least developed. Actually, now that I think about it, they should get Michelle Williams from DC to play Michelle because in that group she's just sort of there.


Musicaltheatreman, I was thinking the same thing about Tasia singing Mean To Me. She would definitly do that song RIGHT! Maybe we'll get lucky and she'll do a broadway benifit or something and sing that song. Beyonce did and excellent job on the West Side Story she performed at a benifit (IMHO I think it was better then Latoya Londons')


Oh, and another thing about Beyonce. I remember thinking when I saw Destiny's Child on the cover of Vibe Magazine a few years ago dressed in 60's girl-group style that Beyonce would make a great Deena. The magazine billed them as the New Supremes. The story inside was even worse than some of the stuff that happens in DG. In fact, I think the Beyonce's/Destiny's Child story is so close that I doubt Beyonce would even do the movie because of her image as being a mini Diana Ross. Since then though her PR has been a lot better and she's being recognized moreso as a solo artist. So, I dont think playing this role would have a negative effect on her image as of now.
