Sweeney is a DreamWorks/Paramount release domestically.

Warners has international distribution rights.

oh ok. So if there is a big upcoming DreamWorks/Paramount release - perhaps a trailer will be attached.

But most trailers debut online anyway.

going a little away from this thread's general feel, but had to share a little personal excitement.
they're still working things, because i've been doing some of the recording work on it (mostly oohs and ahhs, no words as per bloody usual!. it would have been a really dull session apart from - i got to hear johnny sing a snatch of 'my friends"! gave me goosebumps. a little 'captain jack sings sondheim". but i think it'll really work. any other kind of voice coming out of him would look and sound wrong.

unfortunately that was the only singing i heard, as we were working on underscore and incidental stuff mostly. still, gonna be outstanding.

I think the whole cast is exciting. I couldn't find any pictures of Helena yet but Johnny looked great. I loved all that red make-up under his eyes and now, that skunk on his head! That will be something to live down but knowing how Johnny is, he'll expect to see, "skunk hats", all the new craze. It reminded me of his "Edward Scissorhands" days.

I did love reading that Helena said she would divorce Burton if he didn't give her the role. Even if they weren't Married. I'm sure other actress' could have played the part but she will be great. She had nine months of singing lessons, now we will see how beneficial singing lessons are to a singer. I think they are beneficial. So is playing an instrument.

It would seem that since there are plenty of adult themed comics that a trailer could be made to promote "Sweeney"? I just bet they decided it wasn't worth the effort to try to please everyone. If they had to edit it down to a G rating, it could easily lose it's target Teen/Adult Audience. It is better to wait and put out something good than to rush.

So has this inspired a new Comic series yet? We haven't seen anything new from Clive Barker on the screen for some time. I doubt though, that "Sweeney" will go so overboard with the whole blood and guts stuff. Just enough to preserve that whole gothic/horror fun. I mean, murder is messy. When we clean it all up and make it look nice, we take away the gruesomeness of it. Let ugly be ugly I say. Save the gloves and embalming fluid for the Med. School crowd.

As for having to edit down the trailer to please a G audience--bollocks and others have said. While I have seen "red" R rated trailers before they are hardly the norm and many violent movies--think truly grissly stuff liek the currently in vogue "torture porn" movies liek Hostel and Saw have managed to get out G rated trailers that still show the film as being very violent and don't misrepresent it

its a different take than the one's I've heard, but then it would be - the "norm" is for a deep rumbling baritone, whereas johnny's sounds more thin, but interesting. like i said, captain jack sings - quite cockney.
there wasn't a name on the music, but the things we were doing were all original themes, runs into songs etc.
ps. oohs and ahhs are the bread and butter of all session work, you very rarely sing words. that's why i got excited when it was sweeney. but, alas, it was not to be, the proper vocals had been recorded months ago (obviously).

He doesn't have to be a baritone. As long as he sounds scary and crazy enough.

Technically that statement doesn't exactly mean that Dreamworks pulled Sweeney. Burton might have some clips to show. I think Tim will be there with the Sweeney clips.
