Ditto to what HeyBeen said! That is good news for theatergoers, because maybe it will help convince producers to invest in more original musicals.
Congrats to everyone involved with the production!

Go Drowsy! This is awesome.
Wonderful news! This has put a smile on my face for the rest of this night!
I case anyone notices (or cares) the date I joined BWW was the day The Drowsy Chaperone opened. I was there opening might and loved the show so much that I went home and stopped lurking and joined up to express my Drowsy love!

AMEN! What do you know? There IS hope for Broadway after all!
i still havent seen this show... i gotta bump it up on my list.
I LOVE IT!
Congrats to all the talented folks associated with The Drowsy Chaperone who have brought us all such joy and laughter. A wonderful show that deserves all the success it continues to enjoy.
Congrats to this show! I'm glad to see that an original show can succeed and recoup! :)
YAY!! This is *fantastic* news! Enough of the movie to musical adaptations! Original musicals are in! Keep 'em coming!

Congragulations, DROWSY!
Keep on stumbling along :)
i have to say how much this musical is totally "the little musical that could". it really is such a special show and i hope more people run out and see it. hearing that it recouped only means it can be around for awhile longer to spread it's Bride's Lament all over us
monkey monkey monkey...
I'm more impressed by how swiftly it recouped than that it recouped at all. What an accomplishment in this day of needing bombastic, review-proof antics onstage and a million-dollar gross week after week in order to stay open.
Congrats to the cast, crew and ESPECIALLY the creative team of Drowsy for daring to be original.
Is this the first original source musical on Broadway (non-revival) since Urinetown?
BRAVO! Not only is it a wonderful show, but this couldn't have happened to a nicer group of people. Everyone there is pure gold. CONGRATULATIONS DROWSY!!!
Amen, Mamie. They're all a bunch of angels. Broadway is lucky to have every one of them. I feel so goofy, but I'm kind of *proud* of them, not that I know them personally. But this show makes me so happy. It makes me teary-eyed to know that an original musical written by complete Broadway newbies can make it and be a success!
YAY! WOW! and CONGRATS! So Great! So Fast! So much Fun! A show that whole heartedly deserves all of its great riches! Bravo!!!

There's also been AVENUE Q, CAROLINE, OR CHANGE, IN MY LIFE, and while it was first developed as a play, I'd also add 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE to the list. And AVENUE Q, SPELLING BEE and URINETOWN all recouped, so original musicals have fared rather well in this department, of late.
Yay
See mhy production of Urinetown @ John P. Stevens High School in Edison NJ on April 19,20,21... I'm shameless
Good for them. It's nice to hear some new musicals are recouping.
This is great news! And so quickly! THAT is astounding!
